Skypiea, Birka.
A little boy sat high up in a towering tree, idly swinging his legs. Yake had been in this world for over half a year.
He had once been an ordinary office worker on Blue Star. While watching One Piece at home after work, he had accidentally been electrocuted and arrived in this world, becoming an orphan.
Yake had not known he was in the world of One Piece until he saw the winged people living on Skypiea. Yake was just an ordinary human without little wings, so the children of Birka excluded him as well.
With the mentality of someone already in his twenties, Yake naturally could not be bothered to argue with a bunch of brats. Out of sight, out of mind, he simply came alone to this forest. Thus, eight-year-old Yake lived alone in Birka's forest. It was filled with dangers: strange giant beasts and man-eating plants lived throughout the woods, and Yake had nearly lost his life several times.
The sky gradually darkened as the sun was about to set again, and the forest would soon be swallowed by darkness. Yake quickly jumped down from the tree, preparing to find his dinner.
As Yake wandered through Birka's uninhabited forest, he arrived at a strange place he had never set foot in before. A towering fruit tree stood at the center of the area, its branches laden with tempting fruit.
Yake licked his lips, thinking he would not have to go hungry tonight. Though somewhat thin and frail, Yake was agile; otherwise, he could never have survived in this dangerous jungle. He swiftly climbed the tree, plucked a fruit, and began wolfing it down.
"Th-this is... a Devil Fruit?!" Yake stared in disbelief at a lone, strangely patterned fruit hanging beside a branch. He had spotted it by accident while picking fruit. The entire fruit was blue, covered in bizarre lightning-like patterns, with faint sparks occasionally flashing across it, revealing its extraordinary nature.
Yake quickly climbed onto the branch and carefully picked the Devil Fruit, holding it in his palm. His heart burned with excitement. This was Birka of Skypiea, Enel's hometown. Heh... didn't that mean this Devil Fruit was, in all likelihood, the Rumble-Rumble Fruit Enel would have eaten?
"I'm all alone, and I came across this fruit. This fruit chose me!!! Hahaha!" Yake threw back his head and laughed loudly at the fruit in his hand. His voice sounded almost piercing in the quiet, somewhat eerie jungle, startling countless birds into flight.
"Ugh... cough, cough, cough..." Without thinking, Yake took a vicious bite out of the Devil Fruit, only to be choked by its indescribable flavor. It really hit hard.
"As expected of a Devil Fruit. It tastes downright demonic. I'm doing it!" Yake put on a pained expression and "ground his teeth" as he devoured the Devil Fruit cleanly, even swallowing the stem in one bite.
After the Devil Fruit entered his stomach, Yake was surprised to find a strange energy coursing through his entire body. Crackling sounds came from within him, followed by blue currents winding around his body. Yet Yake felt no discomfort at all. Instead, he felt as warm as if he were soaking in a hot spring.
Yake gently raised his hand, spreading his palm slightly as he murmured, "Discharge!"
Azure lightning gathered in Yake's palm before surging forth. The violent bolts struck the huge tree ahead with a chilling crackle, snapping it with ease and sending it crashing down. The resulting blast scattered dirt in every direction.
"So this is disaster-level power? I'm only an eight-year-old kid, yet I can unleash an attack like this. It's... incredible!" Yake's heart surged with excitement, but intense exhaustion swiftly washed over him as well. That casual release had drained what little stamina he had, and Yake could clearly feel that his body was completely emptied out.
Without time to test his abilities further, Yake hurriedly picked several fruits to fill his stomach and soothe its protests.
At night, Yake transformed into lightning and flew to the highest treetop, gazing toward Birka's residential district. The brightly lit town stood in stark contrast to the uninhabited forest where Yake was, as though they were two different worlds.
But Yake had no intention of destroying the place. Now that he had been given a new life, he had no desire to bicker with those ignorant children. All he wanted was to return to the Blue Sea as soon as possible and make a name for himself upon the ocean. Only then would his journey into this world not have been in vain.
The next morning.
The sun shone brightly. It was a clear day.
The moment Yake woke up, he flew straight out of the uninhabited forest. At the boundary between the forest and the residential district, he saw a young man with long earlobes staggering into the woods. Yake paid him no attention. Though he had recognized Enel, so what? The Rumble-Rumble Fruit already belonged to Yake. As for taking Enel's destined opportunity, Yake could only say sorry. Everyone had their own fate...
Skypiea was not very large. Before long, Yake found the familiar Cloud End from his memories. Standing at its edge, he could only vaguely make out the azure sea through the dense clouds at such a great height.
Yake spread his arms, shut his eyes, and took a deep breath.
"I'm coming, sea!!!"
With a light leap, Yake plunged downward in the soaring posture of an eagle. If anyone from Blue Star had seen it, they would surely have blurted out: "A leap of faith!"
Yake fell freely through the air. The fierce wind pressure kept him from opening his eyes, while his pale blue hair whipped wildly around him.
As the blue ocean drew ever closer, Yake activated his elemental form. His lower body turned into lightning, and he flew above the sea's surface.
Yake flew excitedly through the sky. Although he had yet to spot an island, he could not stop. He naturally knew that eating a Devil Fruit would turn him into a complete non-swimmer. Beneath him stretched a boundless sea, and although his flight speed far surpassed that of any ship, no island came into view for a long time.
As his stamina steadily drained away, Yake could not help but grow anxious. Yet heaven never sealed off every path. Just when Yake had reached the end of his rope, he finally spotted a ship. Gritting his teeth, Yake squeezed out every last bit of strength and charged toward it at full speed.
The waters around Amazon Lily.
Rayleigh and Shakky had just escorted the Boa sisters back to Amazon Lily. After bidding farewell to sixteen-year-old Boa Hancock and her sisters, as well as Granny Gloriosa, they were sailing back toward the Sabaody Archipelago.
While reading the newspaper, Rayleigh sensed something unusual with his Observation Haki. He tossed aside the paper and immediately rushed to the stern, where he saw Yake falling toward the ship. With a light tap of his right foot on the deck, he shot into the air, caught Yake, and fell into the sea with him.
Seeing that Yake was completely unconscious but still breathing, Rayleigh hurriedly carried him and swam back to the small ship.
"Rayleigh, who is this?" Shakky could not help asking when she saw Rayleigh carrying a child.
"A little boy fell from the sky. He looks like an ability user. Don't ask so many questions for now. Let's get him somewhere to rest first!" Rayleigh smiled faintly without explaining further and handed Yake to Shakky.
Shakky took Yake and could not help feeling a little heartache when she saw his thin body and pale face. She quickly brought him into the lounge.
"Rayleigh, he's such a cute boy! Don't you think?" Seeing Yake lying peacefully on the bed, breathing faintly, Shakky immediately took a liking to the adorable boy.
"Hahaha..."
Rayleigh and Shakky exchanged a smile.
