Background / History

Yake was originally an office worker from Blue Star who was electrocuted while watching One Piece and reincarnated as an orphan in Birka. Because he was a wingless human among Skypieans, local children excluded him. He survived alone for over six months in Birka’s dangerous forest, where giant beasts and carnivorous plants nearly killed him several times. 1

At eight years old, he found and ate the Rumble-Rumble Fruit before Enel could obtain it. He left Skypiea by leaping from Cloud End, but exhausted himself flying over the sea and collapsed near Amazon Lily. Silvers Rayleigh rescued him, while Shakky took him in and later adopted him. 1 2

Rayleigh trained Yake for ten years, teaching him Haki, swordsmanship, and combat fundamentals. At eighteen, Yake departed Sabaody in 1517—the same year Portgas D. Ace began his voyage—to build his own crew and pursue freedom on his own terms. 2 18

He deliberately transformed his attack on Saint Charlos into a public spectacle, declaring that the World Government and Celestial Dragons should “feel pain.” 2 3 He does not seek the title of Pirate King; he instead wants to live according to his own desires. 18
