The Intent to Abdicate

Robin walked over to The Ancient One and put an arm around her shoulders.

They had long since grown used to such gestures. They were teacher and friend alike. The Ancient One liked Robin's personality very much. She had completely given up on Strange. He might become a mage, but Robin was clearly more suited to become the Sorcerer Supreme.

The Ancient One said calmly, "Are you ready to become the Sorcerer Supreme?"

Robin was somewhat surprised. She had studied magic for less than a year. Becoming the Sorcerer Supreme seemed far too soon.

"Master, that wouldn't be appropriate. You are the Sorcerer Supreme. I... I think this is happening too fast. I still have so much to learn from you."

The Ancient One turned around. A dark, sinister magic circle appeared above her head, and Robin's pupils contracted. This was the ritual pattern from the "Book of Cagliostro." It was used to connect to the Dark Dimension. Could it be that her master had been drawing upon the power of the Dark Dimension all along?

"As you can see, Robin, Dormammu deceived me. I thought I had found an inexhaustible source of energy, but that energy has slowly corroded my body and affected my mind. Though it granted me eternal life, I can no longer fight Dormammu."

"Do you think you were deceived?"

Seeing Robin's expression, The Ancient One gave a bitter smile. Since she had come clean to Robin, she had already prepared herself. She simply did not know what choice Robin would make.

"No, Master. You were right. Without you, Earth would have long been devoured by demons from beyond this realm. Power itself is neither right nor wrong. It depends only on how its wielder uses it."

Robin understood this clearly. Yake was like that as
