Background

Reiju was raised within Germa 66 as Vinsmoke Judge’s genetically modified daughter. Unlike Ichiji, Niji, and Yonji, she retained compassion and considered her brothers “dead” from birth because their modifications made them emotionless monsters. 14

She and Yonji were dispatched to investigate Germa’s lost forces on Sagunto Island. After Yonji attacked Yake and was killed, Yake told Reiju that Sanji was alive and working as a chef at the Baratie. The news overwhelmed her; she treasured the magazine containing Sanji’s photograph and agreed to bring Yake to Judge. 13

At Germa headquarters, Judge’s lineage control compelled Reiju to attack Yake despite her reluctance. Yake rendered her unconscious rather than harm her, then forced Judge to remove her restrictions through a complete blood replacement with Yake’s blood. This ended Judge’s control but bound her to Yake’s commands instead. 14

After waking aboard the Eternal Truth, Reiju accepted Yake’s invitation to join his crew willingly. She quickly befriended Robin and Perona, regarding the crew’s chaotic warmth as something closer to a family than Germa had ever been. 15 21

Reiju is a tall woman whose asymmetric curled eyebrows reflect her modified Vinsmoke lineage: her left eyebrow curls left and her right eyebrow curls right. 50

Reiju is emotionally perceptive, compassionate, and deeply alienated from Judge’s cruelty and her brothers’ lack of humanity. Sanji’s survival brings her genuine relief, and she continues to care about his life after he joins the Straw Hat Pirates. 13 60

In combat, she is disciplined, confident, and teasing. She willingly follows Yake’s orders, but also strives to become strong enough to support him rather than merely depend on his protection. 55 89

She is protective of weaker allies, notably intervening when Usopp attempts to continue attacking the defeated Perona. As the Sky God Kingdom’s Punishment Priestess, she can also be deliberately intimidating when enforcing Yake’s authority. 63
