The preliminary draw began. Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha were all assigned to different groups. Everyone was looking forward to seeing who they would face, but Goku did not care who his opponent was.
Just as everyone was getting ready for the matches, Tien Shinhan arrived with Chiaotzu.
Tien Shinhan swept his gaze over Goku and raised a brow, apparently seeing nothing special about him. "Someone who doesn't even seem to have a martial aura is definitely a weakling."
He then glanced at Krillin and thought, This guy looks like he has some skill, but nothing impressive.
The only one who drew even a little of his attention was Yamcha. He's only a bit stronger than an ordinary martial artist.
Yamcha sensed Tien Shinhan's disdain from his gaze and immediately flared up. He raised a brow, ready to rush over and beat up the arrogant bastard.
Jackie Chun suddenly walked over and stopped Yamcha, saying quietly, "Young man, do you want to be disqualified for attacking now?"
Tien Shinhan glared at Jackie Chun, raised a brow, and asked, "Who are you?"
Yamcha sneered. "You don't even know Jackie Chun, last tournament's runner-up? How ignorant."
Tien Shinhan snorted, contempt flashing through his eyes. "You actually let that decrepit old man take second place? Pathetic."
With that, he stopped paying them any attention and left with Chiaotzu.
Yamcha ground his teeth in fury. "He's way too arrogant! I'll beat him senseless later and see if he can still act so cocky!"
In the rest area outside the martial arts tournament grounds, Bulma and Blonde Launch sat leisurely, drinking beverages and enjoying the relaxed moments before the matches.
Sunlight fell over them. Launch wore a sexy outfit, while Bulma was dressed casually. Both of them seemed to be in good spirits.
Master Crane walked over, swept his eyes around, and suddenly asked, "Where's Master Roshi? Why isn't he here?"
Bulma gave a slight shrug. "Maybe he went to take a dump again." She clearly had no interest in Master Crane's question, and there was a hint of mockery in her voice.
Master Crane raised a brow. "That old fool must be afraid his disciples will lose. He probably ran home out of guilt."
Bulma was annoyed by that and replied coldly, "Easy for you to say. But the strength of our Kame Style doesn't need your evaluation."
However, Master Crane failed to notice Bulma's displeasure. Instead, he began sizing up Bulma and Launch, asking with a smile, "You two are Master Roshi's little girlfriends, right? Follow me from now on. I guarantee you'll live in luxury and enjoy wealth and splendor."
Launch's face darkened at those words, anger flashing through her eyes. She suddenly pulled out a machine gun and opened fire on Master Crane. Gunfire thundered as bullets rained toward him.
Master Crane's expression remained calm. Without any panic, he actually caught every bullet with his hands, completely unharmed. Bulma and Launch were both stunned by the sight.
Master Crane casually straightened his clothes. "You young people are far too sudden." With that, he waved a hand, turned, and left.
Launch gritted her teeth in rage as she glared at Master Crane's retreating back. "Next time I see him, I'll turn him into Swiss cheese!"
The first preliminary match began. Yamcha stood in the ring, his eyes locked on his opponent—a martial artist who looked to be around thirty.
The martial artist had clearly come prepared. Standing in the ring, he struck a confident pose, then threw out several wooden boards and smashed them with a punch. With a cracking blast, the boards shattered.
Yamcha smiled faintly, disdainful. "The boards can't hit back. What's so hard about that?"
Seeing the contempt on Yamcha's face, the martial artist immediately grew furious. He glared at Yamcha and shouted, "Watch yourself, brat!" Then he charged at Yamcha, his movements swift and his fist cutting through the air.
However, Yamcha was not intimidated by his opponent's momentum. With a flash of his body, he easily avoided the martial artist's attack. The instant his opponent lost his balance, Yamcha threw a punch.
The punch looked casual, yet it carried tremendous force. The martial artist was caught completely off guard and was struck by Yamcha's fist, flying away like a kite with its string cut before crashing hard into the wall outside the ring.
Krillin stood in the ring facing an imposing opponent—a three-meter-tall underground boxing champion who looked like a mountain before him.
The underground boxing champion threw back his head and laughed as he approached Krillin. With one huge hand, he fiercely grabbed Krillin around the waist, preparing to crush him with immense force. Seeing Krillin trapped and unable to move, he said smugly, "Kid, looks like you're done for today."
The contestants below erupted in uproar. Everyone believed Krillin was about to lose.
Krillin merely smiled calmly. He lowered his head slightly, as though thinking about something, then suddenly snapped his head up.
"Hehe, I'm done playing with you." Krillin sneered, then reached out and struck the underground boxing champion's enormous hand hard.
The blow was not only fast but incredibly powerful. The underground boxing champion screamed in pain, his face instantly turning pale as the hand gripping Krillin immediately loosened.
Just as the underground boxing champion prepared to counterattack, Krillin had already shifted into position and launched a swift assault. He kicked the champion's arm, and the underground boxing champion clutched his arm in agony before dropping heavily to his knees. His mouth hung wide open as he vomited repeatedly, his eyes unfocused. Finally, he lost consciousness and collapsed onto the ring.
Bang! The sound of the underground boxing champion hitting the ground shocked the entire venue. Everyone was stunned.
The referee rushed forward to inspect him. After confirming that the underground boxing champion was unconscious, he immediately declared Krillin the winner.
Krillin let out a breath, gently patting his hands as he stood in the ring. A faint smile rested on his face, as though that strike had taken no effort at all.
Tien Shinhan stood in the ring, facing a sumo master as his opponent. The man was enormous and dressed in traditional sumo attire, looking as though his defense was incredibly strong. The surrounding contestants began discussing the match, convinced the sumo master's defense would be impenetrable and that Tien Shinhan would have a hard time.
Just as everyone eagerly awaited the start of the match, Tien Shinhan suddenly took off his shirt, revealing eight clearly defined abs. He looked nothing like his usual refined self.
Jackie Chun explained from the side, "A sumo master's defense is extremely strong."
The match began. At the referee's command, the sumo master lunged forward like an enraged beast, his eyes fixed firmly on Tien Shinhan. The audience stared wide-eyed, ready to witness a shocking clash.
Tien Shinhan reacted with incredible speed. Almost instantly, he had already evaded the charge. The sumo master failed to catch him and pitched forward, while Tien Shinhan flashed past him and swiftly moved behind him.
He delivered a flying kick to his opponent's waist. In an instant, he unleashed his strength, and a powerful Ki Blast sent the sumo master's massive body flying before he crashed heavily to the ground. Throughout the entire match, Tien Shinhan's movements were clean and decisive, so fast that the contestants below could barely see what had happened.
Yamcha, Krillin, Goku, and Jackie Chun were the only ones who saw Tien Shinhan's strike in that instant—it had been like lightning.
The referee walked over and confirmed that the sumo master had lost consciousness and could not continue the match. He then declared Tien Shinhan the winner.
Standing in the ring, Goku calmly faced the towering King Gurumes.
King Gurumes swept a disdainful gaze over the soft-skinned little kid, clearly not taking Goku seriously. Jackie Chun warned in a deep voice from below the ring, "King Gurumes is no ordinary opponent. He's quite a famous martial arts master. Goku, be careful."
Goku looked completely defenseless, as though he were full of openings. Seeing this, King Gurumes curled his lips into a cold smile. "Kid, don't blame me for this."
King Gurumes burst into motion and charged straight at Goku, intending to knock him down with his signature heavy punch. Yet just as his fist was about to strike Goku, Goku reached out and caught it. King Gurumes froze for a moment and tried to pull free, but no matter how hard he struggled, Goku's hand remained immovable like an iron clamp.
"What?! He didn't even move a single step?" the contestants below the stage cried out. They had all thought Goku would be sent flying.
King Gurumes' eyes widened in shock as he said incredulously, "You... who exactly are you?"
Goku smiled faintly and replied softly, "I'm just a kid who likes martial arts." With that, Goku gave a light push. King Gurumes lost his balance, staggered back several steps, and fell off the platform.
Jackie Chun, Yamcha, and Krillin watched Goku's match from below, each wearing a different expression.
Krillin could not help scratching his head as he said in utter confusion, "What has Goku grown into, anyway? It feels like he's even stronger than when we last saw him. I can't read him at all!"
Yamcha pondered for a moment, then frowned slightly. "Obviously, he was just casually dealing with his opponent. He wasn't even using any strength."
Jackie Chun stood to one side in silence, but he could not hide the shock in his heart.
Looks like the secret training I've done over the past three years may not have been enough.
