Half an hour later, Gao Shanggong stared at the words on the pyramid and said thoughtfully, "Lord of the Forest... eternal?"

"Is that... the Baisen Cult's slogan?"

Nameless's recent habit of reading everything he could get his hands on proved useful. He immediately caught Gao Shanggong's meaning.

The Baisen Cult was an ancient sect that had long since vanished into history. People occasionally stirred up trouble under its banner, but most factions knew the cult no longer existed.

"Is this a treasure of the Baisen Cult?" Zhang Shouzhong asked curiously.

Gao Shanggong shook his head. "I don't know. If it really is, we'd better be careful. According to historical records, the Baisen Cult apparently worshipped a deity called the Lord of the Forest, but very little is known about him. Some scholars once believed he was an evil god. Stories and legends about the cult still circulate in a few worlds, and in every one of them, the cult plays the villain. Its methods are vile, it stops at nothing to achieve its goals, and its reputation is terrible."

As he spoke, he lightly tapped the character for "forest." Golden light flashed, and the pyramid seemed to come alive. Its layers twisted, revealing an entrance before them.

"I'll go in first and take a look!" Gao Shanggong said.

He reached toward the entrance and was sucked into the pyramid the next instant.

A moment later, he came back out. "All right, it's safe inside. Come in."

The others reached out in turn. As their fingertips neared the entrance, a strange power took hold, and in the blink of an eye they appeared inside the pyramid.

"Where's the treasure?" Zhang Shouzhong asked, looking around the empty hall.

Gao Shanggong gave a wry smile. "I don't think this is Baipusen's treasure chamber.
