A while later, Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva finished reciting the Heart Sutra and opened his eyes to look at Nameless again.
Before Nameless could speak, he smiled. "You want to ask how I escaped punishment?"
"Mm-hmm!" Nameless looked at Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva curiously.
Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva said calmly, "Unfortunately, I did not escape the law. I ate a bullet instead."
"..."
Nameless stared at the red dot between Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva's brows. Could it have been left by the bullet?
"As it happened, the world I lived in was invaded by a mysterious force around that time. Though I had already died, I became a spirit within the flames."
"Back then, my heart held nothing but resentment. I hunted game operators and designers, driving game companies across the country out of business."
"Later, I met my master. As I was no match for him, he sealed me inside a prayer bead. Day after day, I listened to him recite sutras that washed the resentment from my heart. In the end, I even joined the Buddhist Sect and received the religious name Baodi!"
Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva went on, telling Nameless his story bit by bit.
"Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva, your experiences are... truly shocking." Nameless wiped away nonexistent cold sweat, unsure whether to laugh or cry.
Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva smiled. "I have sinned. Anger blinded me then, and I did commit many evil deeds."
"Let's talk about your ability instead. What exactly does your guarantee protect?" Nameless asked with a wry smile.
Bottom-Saver Bodhisattva looked at the Swastika Mark on the ground and explained, "In this space, I can leave a Guaranteed Mark. If something happens to you, I can pull you back to this moment. No matter how many times it happens, you will never truly die."
"Got it. It's like making a save," Nameless said with a nod.
