Infinite City.
Hawkins carried a dish into the living room, and Su'er watched him calmly.
Recently, Hawkins had made so many dishes that Su'er felt she had put on quite a bit of weight, even though she supposedly could eat without gaining any.
"What do you think of dictatorship?" Hawkins set the plate in front of Su'er, glanced at the television, and asked her.
If an ordinary person heard that question, they would surely reject dictatorship, perhaps even consider it synonymous with evil.
But Su'er was no ordinary person. She had traveled to many places with Sa and seen different systems of government in different worlds. Glancing at the flaming meat on the plate, she answered, "That depends on the circumstances."
"Go on." Hawkins smiled.
Su'er thought for a moment and said, "A dictator's character, conduct, and lifespan all affect the outcome of their rule. Take you, for example. All of Infinite City is actually under your rule, so strictly speaking, you're a dictator too. But your lifespan is practically infinite, and you're not a bad person, so Infinite City is better than most of the cities I've visited."
In her view, dictatorship was not necessarily unacceptable, but who ruled was crucial.
Moreover, most living beings had finite lifespans. Just because the first king ruled well did not mean the next would too. Under a dictatorship, a single unqualified successor could bring the empire down.
Thus, this system was only suited to wise, enlightened monarchs with infinite lifespans.
"What about other animals?" After hearing her answer, Hawkins glanced at the meat on the plate and asked with a smile.
Su'er looked at the meat and frowned. "Fireburst Boars?"
"Yes." Hawkins nodded.
Su'er picked up her chopsticks, took a bite, and answered, "The Fireburst Boar King is indeed a competent ruler.
