Luo Hou's disciple.
Emperor Jun looked at Wutian, and at last his expression changed. Shock showed in both his eyes and his face.
The news that Wutian was Luo Hou's disciple was not something Emperor Jun knew only from legends of later generations.
In this place, the name Wutian was equally resounding, and Emperor Jun had naturally heard of him.
Wutian was Luo Hou's disciple—and the only disciple Luo Hou had ever acknowledged.
Yet Wutian had not made his name here through Luo Hou, but by carving it out with his own strength.
Back then, Wutian had been unstoppable in the Golden Immortal battlefield, sweeping all before him with none able to stand in his way. His reputation had been far greater than Emperor Jun's was now.
Whenever Wutian appeared on the battlefield back then, they would inevitably dispatch seven or eight Veteran Golden Immortals to face him.
They did not seek to kill Wutian, only to interfere with him and keep him from slaughtering the other Golden Immortals.
But Wutian later vanished, so Emperor Jun had not encountered him in these three hundred years.
"For the disciple of such a figure to resort to such a sneak attack—truly despicable."
Here, Emperor Jun did not dare to call Luo Hou by name outright.
Once he did, if Luo Hou traced the call and came looking for him, he would undoubtedly die. Even Dao Ancestor Hongjun might not be able to save him in time.
No matter how exceptional Emperor Jun's comprehension was, he was still only a Golden Immortal. Before Luo Hou, he was simply far too weak.
"Hmph! I merely wished to test whether you were worthy of making me act."
"Otherwise, how could you possibly have escaped?"
Wutian said angrily.
Emperor Jun did not argue with Wutian further over the matter, but his expression made it perfectly clear that he did not believe Wutian's words.
Seeing Emperor Jun's expression, Wutian spoke again. "With your cultivation realm, if I had truly wanted to ambush you, how could I have failed? Right now, I..."
At that point, Wutian's words abruptly stopped, and he did not continue.
Those unfinished words stirred Emperor Jun's curiosity, while also putting him on guard.
After all, this was Luo Hou's sole acknowledged disciple. Who knew how many secret arts of the Demon Path he possessed?
"Words are useless. Fight!"
Wutian said.
"Fight!"
The current Emperor Jun no longer wanted to flee whenever he encountered a powerful foe. Now, he even yearned for battle.
For the paths of most living beings were displayed most vividly in battle, allowing Emperor Jun to comprehend them better and deepen his own foundation.
The moment Emperor Jun's words fell, Wutian swung his Long Halberd and charged at him.
Emperor Jun did not yield either. A long spear appeared in his hand, while the Hetu Luoshu Diagram emerged above his head.
The long spear was merely a mid-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure, one of Emperor Jun's spoils of war, and could now barely serve its purpose.
As for the Hetu Luoshu Diagram, there was no need to mention it. It was Emperor Jun's companion spiritual treasure, a top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure second only to a Primordial Treasure.
However, Emperor Jun concealed part of its aura, making it appear to be only a mid-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure.
He understood the principle that wealth should not be displayed. A Golden Immortal possessing a mid-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure could still be explained away, but a top-grade Innate Spiritual Treasure would invite the covetous eyes of others.
Emperor Jun's spear collided with Wutian's Long Halberd. Both weapons contained immense Magical Power, and in an instant, a wave of energy burst forth and spread in every direction.
Emperor Jun and Wutian could still steady themselves, gripping their spiritual treasures tightly.
But the Golden Immortal cultivators around them, regardless of which side they belonged to, were struck by that wave of energy and sent flying. Some had even suffered grievous injuries.
Naturally, Emperor Jun and Wutian paid them no heed. Wielding their Innate Spiritual Treasures, they clashed again and again, waves of energy pouring outward in every direction.
All the surrounding Golden Immortals swiftly retreated, clearing a space for Emperor Jun and Wutian to fight.
In the blink of an eye, the two had exchanged over a hundred blows, yet neither could do anything to the other.
Still, both had been struck. Emperor Jun's attacks were blocked by the armor on Wutian's body.
Meanwhile, Wutian's attacks were blocked by Emperor Jun's Hetu Luoshu Diagram.
Thus, after more than a hundred exchanges, neither side had suffered much harm.
After another clash, the two could not help but separate, each regulating his breath and smoothing out his Magical Power.
"Haha, good!"
Wutian laughed.
"Emperor Jun, you are stronger than I imagined."
Wutian did not stint in his praise.
"Indeed, good."
This was the most exhilarating battle Emperor Jun had experienced since entering this place, though it was merely a warm-up.
Yes, the battle just now had truly been nothing more than a warm-up for Emperor Jun and Wutian.
Both sides understood this point very well.
Once Emperor Jun had regulated his aura, he launched another attack in an instant. The Solar Trueflame he had prepared long ago poured forth, seeking to drown Wutian.
The spear in Emperor Jun's hand, guided by his divine sense, shot straight toward Wutian.
Though Wutian had been speaking just now, he had not been idle. Magical Power churned ceaselessly within his body.
Boundless, pitch-black Demonic Qi emerged around him. He tossed out the Long Halberd in his hand and likewise controlled it with his divine sense, sending it into battle against the spear.
Then he looked toward the Solar Trueflame, the corners of his lips curling upward.
Wutian naturally knew something of Emperor Jun's means of attack.
When Emperor Jun had first entered this battlefield, he had used the Solar Trueflame frequently.
Later, perhaps seeing that his opponents had grown weaker, he had stopped using it.
Now that he faced Wutian, had he finally brought out the Solar Trueflame he was best at?
Without the slightest hesitation, Wutian charged into the Solar Trueflame with that pitch-black Demonic Qi.
When the Demonic Qi met the Solar Trueflame, it was like raging fire striking hot oil. The Solar Trueflame became even more violent, appearing all the more ferocious.
Even so, Emperor Jun felt no joy at all.
Because he discovered that the Solar Trueflame seemed to have slipped beyond his control.
Moreover, Emperor Jun could tell that Wutian was not vying with him for control of the Solar Trueflame. Rather, the flames had become so violent that he could no longer control them.
It was Emperor Jun's first time encountering such a situation.
And in Emperor Jun's perception, the lifespan of that Solar Trueflame was rapidly shortening—in other words, the time it could continue burning was dwindling.
Wutian naturally paid no heed to Emperor Jun's thoughts. He charged straight at Emperor Jun, as if he intended to engage him in close-quarters combat.
Emperor Jun gathered his thoughts and focused on the charging Wutian.
The two erupted at once, clashing together again.
This time, however, the battle was split into two areas: one where the spear and Long Halberd fought, and one where Emperor Jun and Wutian battled hand-to-hand.
For them, dividing their attention between two tasks was simply too easy.
During the close-quarters fight, Emperor Jun felt a chill seep into his body, making his Magical Power somewhat violent and requiring more effort to control.
For a time, Emperor Jun fell into a disadvantage.
"Your Solar Trueflame is nothing more than this. If you have no other tricks, then today you will surely be buried by my hand and perish here."
Wutian spoke as he fought Emperor Jun at close range.
"You sure talk a lot of nonsense!"
Emperor Jun shot back.
In the blink of an eye, Solar Trueflame filled the space around Emperor Jun, cutting off Wutian's Demonic Qi.
At the same time, the Fusang Tree within Emperor Jun's body erupted with all manner of flames, which merged into the Solar Trueflame surrounding him.
The space around him instantly turned fiery red, forming a stark opposition to Wutian's pitch-black Demonic Qi.
"Again!"
This time, Emperor Jun took the initiative and closed in. Fiery red and pitch-black collided, producing a strange sound.
With layer upon layer of flames separating them, Wutian's Demonic Qi could no longer invade Emperor Jun's body.
However, the Solar Trueflame, Magical Power, and the various true flames of the Fusang Tree were all being consumed at a tremendous rate. They would not last long.
But Emperor Jun believed that maintaining that sky-filling Demonic Qi could not be easy for Wutian either.
What they were competing in now was endurance!
The commotion caused by the two of them grew greater and greater, already alerting some of the Zenith Heaven Golden Immortals on both sides of the Demon Path.
They came out one after another to investigate. After all, Golden Immortals should not have been capable of causing such a disturbance.
As for the Primordial Golden Immortal cultivators, they had no leisure to watch two Golden Immortals fight, even if one of them was Luo Hou's only acknowledged disciple.
