Different cultivation systems had different focuses. Some emphasized tempering the body, others began with cultivating the primordial spirit, and still others focused on continually accumulating magical power.
The system of The Sage Who Transcended Samsara used the nine apertures to cultivate an inner landscape, making the practitioner the master of a miniature world within their body. Unlike the Shrouding Method, which focused on combat power and sought to transcend the great universe, it pursued unity between humanity and heaven, resonance between the inner and outer worlds, harnessing the power of heaven and earth, and mastering the universe's governing principles.
To put it bluntly, the Shrouding Method produced berserkers who fought fist to flesh, while the lifetime method produced spellcasters who manipulated rules.
Once a warrior closed in on a spellcaster, a single punch could kill them. Once a spellcaster kept a warrior at a distance, they could kite them endlessly, whittling away their health bar.
Lin Xian, however, cheated. He cultivated both martial and magical arts.
With the body of a Shrouding Method cultivator, he comprehended the governing principles of The Sage Who Transcended Samsara. As he transformed yin-yang into the five elements, he did not simply manifest the five elements. Instead, he first formed the four symbols, then used himself as earth to complete the five elements.
Those four symbols were precisely Taiyin and Taiyang, lesser yin and lesser yang.
These four states corresponded exactly to the Shrouding Method's third secret realm—the four extremes!
In other words, while breaking through to the Dao Palace, Lin Xian had also glimpsed a trace of the mysteries of the four extremes. In the terminology of The Sage Who Transcended Samsara's universe, he had acquired a characteristic of the four extremes.
"Water is lunar yin; fire is solar yang; wood is lesser yang;
