Background and History

Founding

The Heavenly Court arose from the Immortal Alliance, which had united the Eastern Wasteland’s leading forces, six Emperor Weapons, Saints, and potentially Gai Jiuyou. Lin Xian argued that an alliance of this scale had to become an Immortal Dynasty and establish a supreme Heavenly Court 203.

Its founders deliberately invoked the legacy of Emperor Zun’s Mythical Era Heavenly Court. This was politically useful but dangerous: previous attempts by Emperor Zun, the Immortal Emperor, Great Emperor Wu Shi, and the Azure Emperor had either collapsed or been abandoned because establishing a Heavenly Court without first becoming immortal carried immense karma 203.

Ye Fan was elevated as the Sacred Body Heavenly Emperor and presented as Emperor Zun’s reincarnation, while the Saints retained practical authority. The arrangement initially made the Heavenly Emperor a symbolic, “rule by doing nothing” figure rather than an absolute ruler 204.

Alliance with the Buddhist Sect

The Eastern Wasteland Heavenly Court later allied with the Western Desert Buddhist Sect at Heavenly Jade Sacred Land. They established a jointly governed New Heavenly Court to prepare for the Immortal Ascension Road and oppose the Immortal Emperor 244.

Expansion across Earth and the Myriad Races

On the Primordial Ancient Star, Lin Xian declared the destruction of the Western Dao Lineage, the unification of the world, and the establishment of Heavenly Court as linked goals. Resistance among eastern sects and ancient tribes collapsed after their own ancestors revealed that they had already joined the Court 376.

The Court’s conflict with the Primordial Myriad Races became a wider contest between Azure Emperor’s lineage and the Forbidden Zones. Myriad Dragon Nest ultimately joined the Heavenly Court, seeking protection, access to its secrets, and a future for the Myriad Dragon Emperor 407 409.

Former Restricted Area figures were later courted through promises of Immortal Ascension opportunities. The Court formally distinguished between Supremes who had merely sought longevity and those responsible for Dark Turmoils, refusing to accept the latter 449.

Universal Power

By the time of its campaigns against Eternal Ancient Star and the Underworld, the Heavenly Court could mobilize numerous Emperor Weapons, Supreme Beings, Great Saints, and the Divine Organization. Lin Xian publicly declared that it would rule the Great Universe under Ye Fan’s authority 469 482.

The Divine Organization merged into the Court’s expanding order under conditions preserving Ye Fan’s family, the Immortal-Ascension Cauldron, and worship of the Heavenly Emperor, Human Emperors, and Sacred Body lineage 490.

The Heavenly Court later occupied more than half the universe, and its edicts were obeyed by the myriad races. It became the dominant voice of the Human World, although Ye Fan himself remained more interested in cultivation than administration 630.

Immortal Ascension Road Era

As the Immortal Ascension Road crisis approached, the Court organized its forces against the Forbidden Zones. Lin Xian assigned Chuan Ying and Gai Jiuyou to defend the Divine Ruins, placed the Golden Crow Great Emperor against hostile forces, and used the Four Swords of Immortal Slaying as Earth’s mobile reserve 673.

The Heavenly Court recovered the remains of the Taiyin Human Emperor from the Immortal Ascension Road and refined them into the Human Emperor Banner, preserving the emperor’s remaining Divine Thought and creating a potential method to retain heroic consciousness after death 673.

After the great battles of the Immortal Ascension Road, the Court established temples for fallen heroes, granted them divine-general titles, and gathered Faith Power in hopes of their eventual revival. New Heavenly Court

In a later era, Lin Xian proposed a New Heavenly Court with the Azure Emperor. The new order was built through negotiation with Other Shore practitioners, with positions distributed to prevent any single faction from monopolizing its fortune 814.

The agreement rewrote history, restored the Primordial Era’s ruined Nine Heavens, revived Heavenly Soldiers and Generals, and expanded the Court into a system of thirty-six heavens. Lin Xian, the Jade Emperor, Fuxi, and Taiyi jointly operated the restored heavenly order 814.

Lin Xian subsequently attained the Other Shore through the accumulated fortune of the New Heavenly Court. History was altered so that he had always been the Heavenly Emperor, inheriting Haotian’s legacy 814.
