On the luxurious ship, Charlos strapped weights to his wrists, put on a weighted vest, and stood at the bow. Rukia came up beside him. "Move your foot."

Charlos lifted his foot without a word.

"Honestly, you could at least sweep the deck."

"Rukia, do you know something?"

"Know what?"

"I'm undertaking some great training."

Rukia handed him the broom. "What are you doing?"

"Training? Then start by training yourself to sweep."

"No, I mean we should get stronger."

Rukia set the broom aside and looked at him. "Go on."

"We should aim high. We could rule the whole world, for example, or become its one and only king."

"Have you lost your mind?"

"Rukia, how could you say that about me?"

Rukia turned toward the sails and shouted, "Amina! Charlos needs his medicine!"

Amina hurried out of the cabin. "What happened? Is Charlos sick?"

"I think something's wrong with his head."

Amira came out too, drenched in sweat. Charlos looked at her. "What happened to you?"

"Charlos, I've decided to train hard so I can protect you."

Charlos gave a faint smile. "Hmph. No need. I should be the one protecting you."

Amina said evenly, "No, no. It would be better if we protected you."

"You don't believe me?" Charlos jumped onto the deck. "Let's test it, then. Even with these weights on, I can wipe the floor with you."

Amira glanced at Amina, who sighed. "Fine."

Charlos watched them. "What? Amira, you're not planning to go easy on me again, are you?"

"Of course not."

"Then I'll make the first move. Come on."

Amira charged straight at Charlos. He coated both hands in Armament Haki and blocked her punch.

Amira followed with a kick, locking her legs around Charlos's neck. She bent at the waist and flung him into the air.

Charlos used the momentum to spin and land on the deck. He slowly coated his fists in Armament Haki, then rushed at Amira.

Amira coated her hands in Armament Haki and thrust them forward, catching his attack.

Charlos froze. "You blocked me?"

Amira hesitated, then flew backward and fell to the deck. "Ow! I can't go on. That hurt!"

"You just blocked my attack."

Amina sighed. "That was terrible acting."

Amira got up. "I didn't want to crush your confidence."

Charlos took off his weights and fixed Amira with a serious look.

"Now that the weights are off, I'll fight you with everything I've got. Do you think you can beat me?"

Amira replied softly, "Not without using my Fruit ability."

"And if you use it?"

"You wouldn't stand a chance."

Charlos closed his eyes and breathed out.

"Then use it. I want to see how far apart we are."

"Not here."

"Why not?"

"We're on a ship in open water. It's no place for us to fight at full strength."

Charlos nodded. "All right. We'll fight when we reach the next island."

As he finished speaking, Robin walked over with a sea chart.

"We'll reach our destination soon. It won't be long."

"Really?"

"Mm-hm."

Charlos looked her over and said casually, "Is it my imagination, or has your skin gotten fairer?"

Robin smiled. "Has it? Do you like it?"

"It's nice."

Robin leaned closer, teasing him. "Then tell me, whose skin is fairer, mine or Amina's?"

Charlos tapped her forehead.

"What are you thinking?"

Amina watched them, her lips pursed slightly.

Charlos noticed. "There's no point comparing."

Amina answered quietly, "All right. I know."

The luxurious ship drew slowly toward the island.

Someone lying in ambush on the shore watched the sea, then raised a whistle. Its shrill blast broke the silence along the coast.

The bandits hidden in the dense woods tensed at once, all eyes locking onto the approaching ship.

One man lowered his voice. "We've got a big catch."

The man beside him lit up. "A ship that fancy has to be carrying rich people. We're going to make a fortune."

At the front of the group, their leader stepped forward, a feathered headdress on his head. "What are you muttering about? Once it docks, grab everyone aboard and squeeze them for ransom!"

One of his men blinked. "Boss, so it isn't a merchant ship carrying goods?"

The leader snorted. "Of course not. Anyone who can sail on a ship that luxurious has more money than you can imagine."

The ship eased up to the shore, but no one came down.

"Hey, boss, why aren't they getting off?"

"I don't know. Stay sharp and wait a little longer."

"Got it, boss."

On the deck, Charlos opened his eyes.

"This island's going to be interesting."

Robin looked at him. "How do you know?"

"Want to find out?"

"Of course."

"Kiss me and I'll tell you."

Robin's cheeks reddened. She leaned in and gave him a light kiss on the cheek.

"Mwah."

"Observation Haki. I'll teach you later."

"Huh? What's that?"

"Want to learn?"

"Yes."

"I'll teach you bit by bit."

Amira watched from the side and said, "There are over seventy of them, but none are particularly strong. Want me to take care of them?"

"You noticed them too, Amira?"

Amira smiled. "Of course. Robin, learn from me instead. I'll teach you without letting some big pervert take advantage."

Charlos looked at Amira unhappily. "What do you mean, 'big pervert'? I'm not one."

"All right, you're not," Amira said. "Then I can go deal with them now?"

"Go on, go on."

Amira spread her black wings and flew straight toward the shore.

The bandits waiting below cried out when they saw her approaching.

"What's that? A kid who can fly?"

"No idea. She looks like she's coming this way."

Their feather-crowned leader said grimly, "No. She's coming straight for us."

But it was already too late.

On deck, Charlos picked up a glass of juice and took a sip as the sounds of fighting rose from the shore.

"She should be done soon."

Robin folded her arms and closed her eyes. "Mm. There are only seven or eight left where Amira is."

A moment later, Amira burst out of the woods and flew back to the ship. She landed steadily on the deck and dusted off her hands.

"Done. Let's rest a little before we fight."

"All right."

Charlos reached out, about to ask Amina to pour Amira some juice, but Amira snatched the glass from his hand and drained it.

"I drank from that."

Amira looked at him over the empty glass. "So? Is that a problem?"

"Not at all."

Deep in the island's interior, a young man in a white shirt stood with a long blade in hand and his eyes closed, facing a swordsman from a distance.

The swordsman opposite him shouted, "Hey, don't look down on me! You're actually fighting me with your eyes closed?"

The young man answered calmly, "You haven't earned the right to make me open them."

"Arrogant fool!"

A fierce flash of sword light erupted, sending the birds and beasts of the forest fleeing in every direction.

The slash swept out with a roar, cutting through the entire forest and carving a gash across the sea near the shore.

On the deck, Charlos whipped his head toward the island's interior and murmured, "There's someone strong in there."
