Wave after wave of Strange Entities led by Weird Emperor Jiu Wu began landing on One-Eyed Continent. They reached an area in the west and set up camp. He would need to stay there for the next several days.
He said little.
The more he said, the more likely he was to slip up.
He simply built a camp in that area, keeping Chen Fan's instructions in mind: he must not build a temporary camp. He had to act as though he were making a permanent home there.
And he began preparing for the next step.
The first battle plan had failed.
If he had secured the northern and southern areas, what came next would have been much simpler. Since he had secured neither, they needed the second plan.
That was life.
Nothing ever went quite as expected.
Weird Emperor Jiu Wu slowly straightened and turned toward the sea. He disliked uncertainty; it was one reason he disliked conflict. He preferred staying on Huyi Continent, reading the paper and drinking tea. Black Tortoise came by every morning. He liked that steady, familiar routine.
It had never been so obvious before, but since meeting Black Tortoise, he had discovered how much he loved that stability. It gave him a sense of safety—an overwhelming sense of safety.
Hidden in the distance, the One-Eyed Wraith King watched Weird Emperor Jiu Wu establish his camp. It plainly was no temporary encampment; he was building it as though he meant to stay.
The wariness in his eye gradually eased.
The corner of his mouth lifted.
"It seems the heavens favor my One-Eyed Clan."
With Weird Emperor Jiu Wu joining them, his One-Eyed Clan would grow even stronger!
