Background

The Pagoda Ancient Clan is an ancient Great Thousand World power whose territory contains vast black towers, ancient halls, and the Spirit Vein Hall. Its population is large despite strict bloodline control, with newborn members routinely assessed for Spiritual Veins. 1

The clan historically placed exceptional value on inherited Spiritual Veins. Heaven-grade Spirit Veins qualified children for inner-clan cultivation and brought rewards to their branch, while Divine Veins were considered far more significant because of their potential to produce Heavenly Sovereigns. 1

At the beginning of the story, the clan-chief position was vacant and Grand Elder Futu Xuan held the highest authority. Futu Yun nevertheless bore the title of young clan chief after receiving recognition from the Endless Light Body, despite initially possessing no Spiritual Veins. 1 2

Futu Yun’s return from the Spirit Road with Nine Divine Veins triggered immediate factional competition. Futu Xuan intervened, ordering that the unidentified bearer be given second-sequence status, admitted to the inner clan, and supplied with the highest-grade cultivation resources; the bearer was soon revealed to be Futu Yun himself. 1

• Clan Chief — Traditionally one of only two positions permitted to bear the surname “Futu”; the post was vacant when Futu Yun emerged. 1

Former Three-Lineage Structure

Before Futu Yun’s reforms, the clan’s internal politics centered on three major lineages:

• Xuan Branch — One of the two dominant branches; sought to control the Nine Divine Veins bearer through adoption, political influence, or marriage. 1
• Mo Branch — The other dominant branch; competed with the Xuan Branch for resources and influence. 1 24
• Qing Lineage — Qing Yanjing’s lineage. It was initially weakened by the Xuan and Mo Branches, briefly restored through Qing Yanjing’s return, then demoted to a criminal lineage after the branch conflict. 4 5 24

Favor-Granting Decree

Futu Yun dismantled the hereditary main-lineage system after the Xuan and Mo Branches were weakened. 24

• Main and branch lineage distinctions were abolished.
• Each Heavenly Sovereign became the founder of an independent lineage, including relatives who would previously have belonged to one family line.
• Clan status was redefined around cultivation and merit rather than blood proximity or surname.
• Outside experts who contributed to the clan could be treated as equal members.

Spirit Vein Hall

The Spirit Vein Hall houses the Spirit Vein Stele, a dark-crimson monument that detects the Spiritual Veins of every Pagoda bloodline newborn. Its light intensity reveals the grade of a member’s veins. 1

The stele’s reaction to Futu Yun’s Nine Divine Veins produced a pillar of light that pierced the hall roof and alarmed the entire clan. Nine Divine Veins had appeared only a handful of times in clan history, exceeding even Qing Yanjing’s Eight Divine Veins. 1

Ancestral Pagoda

The Ancestral Pagoda is the clan’s sacred artifact and greatest inherited weapon.

• It is a Saint-grade Peerless Sacred Artifact strengthened by the spiritual power left behind by deceased Grand Elders. 51 52
• Its full power can suppress or kill even Saint-grade Heavenly Sovereigns; it previously slew at least three Heavenly Demon Emperors during the ancient war against the Extraterrestrial Evil Clan. 51
• It is the origin of the Pagoda Towers cultivated by clan members. 23
• Futu Xuan used the Pagoda Ancient Seal and the pagoda’s power to imprison Qing Yanjing after her destruction of the Holy Spiritual Academy and the forces of the Xuan and Mo Branches. 23

Endless Light Body

The Endless Light Body is a primordial Celestial Body guarded by the clan and one of the five Primordial Dharma Bodies. Futu Yun’s resonance with it was the reason he was named young clan chief despite his lack of Spiritual Veins at birth. 2 6

Futu Yun later declared his intention to abandon it in favor of the Great Solar Undying Body, believing the latter could lead toward the Myriad Ancient Immortal Body. Futu Xuan ultimately allowed the decision because of Futu Yun’s accomplishments and importance to the clan. 71

Cultivation Programs

• Light Meridian Refining Method — Futu Yun’s modified form of the Nine Revolutions Saint Art. It can elevate Earth-grade Spirit Veins to Heaven-grade, bring Heaven-grade veins closer to Divine Veins, and improve the advancement prospects of Earthly and Heavenly Sovereigns. Its full form relies on the Endless Light Body; unauthorized cultivation causes fatal deviation. 4
• Meridian Refining Loan — A recruitment and cultivation system under which members receive resources in exchange for completing tasks and serving the clan. It allows cultivators without Divine Veins to improve their potential while binding them to the clan. 5
• Earth Spirit Liquid — A refined resource made using Earthly Power and Plane Spirit Origins from multiple Lower Planes. It can directly assist an Earthly Sovereign Great Perfection in attempting a Heavenly Sovereign breakthrough. Futu Yun sold limited batches through a high-level clan trading fair to acquire Sacred Artifacts and strategic materials. 48

History

Nine Divine Veins Crisis

The Spirit Vein Stele’s detection of Nine Divine Veins created an internal scramble among the Xuan and Mo Branches, whose elders immediately considered adoption and marriage arrangements to bring the bearer under their control. Futu Xuan forbade interference and ordered a clan-wide search. 1

The crisis ended when Futu Yun returned from the Spirit Road. The nine ancient patterns appearing across his body identified him as the Nine Divine Veins bearer, combining the clan’s highest bloodline potential with his pre-existing recognition by the Endless Light Body. 1 2

Qing Yanjing and the Branch Conflict

Qing Yanjing’s relationship with the clan was shaped by her past departure from an arranged marriage and her protection of Mu Chen, whose mixed heritage the clan refused to recognize. Futu Yun released her from confinement under the public pretext that she was his spiritual-array instructor, then returned her to lead the Qing Lineage while limiting her influence to preserve internal balance. 5 9

The Xuan and Mo Branches later attempted to use Mu Chen as leverage against Qing Yanjing. Qing Yanjing retaliated by destroying the Holy Spiritual Academy, the forces supporting it, and the participating members of both branches, including their branch heads and numerous Heavenly Sovereigns. 23

Futu Xuan ultimately used the Ancestral Pagoda to contain Qing Yanjing. In the aftermath, the Qing Lineage was designated a criminal lineage and the old three-lineage structure was dismantled through Futu Yun’s Favor-Granting Decree. 23 24

Expansion and External Wars

The clan began expanding into Sky Law Continent as its new recruits and resources increased its military capacity. Its campaign was initially opposed by local powers and externally supported factions, including forces connected to the Maha Ancient Clan. 9 71

Futu Yun’s conquest of Lower Planes supplied the clan with resources, powerful spirit-beast remains, and Plane Spirit Origins. These assets supported the Earth Spirit Liquid trade, equipped the clan’s growing Heavenly Sovereign population, and strengthened its wider network of exchanges. 45 48

A dispute over Mu Chen escalated into open conflict with the Tai Ling Ancient Clan. Futu Yun used the war to purge unruly guest elders and internal factions, then killed Tai Ling’s first-sequence prospective saintess Bai Xin’er with a five-seal Spiritual Formation. The clan subsequently extracted mines, territory, and continental concessions from the defeated Tai Ling side. 55 56

After Futu Yun captured the Ancient Heavenly Palace, the clan claimed Sky Law Continent as its rightful jurisdiction. Local Heavenly Sovereigns withdrew, while many subordinate factions accepted Pagoda rule as a more secure political alignment. 71
