Chthon pressed his hands together. An overwhelming surge of chaos power shot from his palms toward Thanos.
Thanos vanished, crossed several hundred meters in a flash, and appeared behind Chthon.
"You sent over so little power, yet you dared to send your consciousness here too. You really are brave."
At the sound of the voice behind him, Chthon shuddered.
How was that possible?
How was he so fast? How had he gotten behind me without my noticing?
The next instant, Chthon felt a hand clamp around his neck. Vast energy enveloped his body, preventing him from using his power or withdrawing his consciousness from it.
Only then did he truly become afraid.
When Doctor Strange died, Chthon had had two choices.
He could abandon the power he had projected here and withdraw, or send over part of his consciousness and keep fighting.
But he had spent too long in the Void, alone for too long. Without thinking it through, he had sent part of his consciousness here.
After all, if he could summon the Darkhold again in this universe, he could reconnect with his self in the Void and summon over all his power and consciousness.
Then he could rule the universe and seek the power he had once lost.
Instead, he had run into this monster, who was stronger than the fraction of his power he had brought here.
Now he stood to lose not just that power, but part of his consciousness as well.

Someone had once set him up, causing him to lose control of the Dark Dimension and most of his power with it.
He had fallen from Multiversal Level back to Universal Level. If he lost another portion of his power now, he might not even be able to maintain that.
