In ancient times, Kamar-Taj had not yet become a holy land for sorcerers on Blue Star.
Sorcerers had only a loose Sorcerer Council. Its members practiced all manner of strange spells and witchcraft; even Dark Magic and Necromancy were not forbidden.
The Sorcerer Council could hardly be called a force for good.
Its members had banded together only because the Pantheon and Celestial Palace threatened them.
Agamotto ignored the sorcerers who greeted him and hurried into the council hall. He waved his Staff, sending a beam toward the great bell inside.
Dong... dong... dong...
The deafening tolls rang out in every direction.
The bell was enormous, roughly three meters across and five meters tall. Made entirely of bronze, it was called the Sorcerer Bell, and only powerful sorcerers could sound it.
The Sorcerer Bell could be rung only in an emergency. Anyone who rang it otherwise would face punishment from the Sorcerer Council.
Beyond its thunderous sound, the bell compelled every sorcerer who heard it to come to the council hall immediately.
The instant it rang, Portals opened throughout the hall. White Sorcerers emerged first, followed by streaks of black light that appeared in the sky and flew toward them.
Others arrived through the sky on dragons and Phoenixes, while still more came along the roads riding White Tigers and Qilin.
Nearly seventy or eighty percent of Blue Star's sorcerers had come.
A young, beautiful Oshtur opened a Portal and appeared before Agamotto. "What happened?" she asked anxiously. "Has the Pantheon attacked?"
The Sorcerer Council's relationship with the Pantheon was tense because of their proximity, so an attack was her first thought.
Agamotto shook his head at once. "No. It's something even more serious."
Oshtur grew more alarmed. "Have the Pantheon and Celestial Palace joined forces to attack us?"
At
