He often presents self-interested motives as righteous action. When Xiao Wu was taken by the Titan Giant Ape, he publicly called her his companion and demanded to pursue her, but privately hoped to acquire her as a future hundred-thousand-year soul ring. 65 70

Despite his arrogance, Yu Tianlong is sharply aware of sect politics and considers Yu Xiaogang’s actions a danger to the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect. During the admission assessment against Zhao Wuji, Yu Tianlong is the strongest combatant among the applicants. His Dark Sacred Dragon and Silent Darkness Domain give him a decisive advantage over Tang San, Xiao Wu, and Zhu Qing, while his rivalry with Chang Gong Miao weakens the group’s coordination. 51

Star Dou Great Forest

When the Titan Giant Ape carries Xiao Wu away, Yu Tianlong attempts to pursue her with a Flying Mushroom Sausage. Zhao Wuji refuses because the Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect would hold him responsible if Tianlong were harmed. 65

After being stopped, Tianlong asks Yu Luomian to arrange the deaths of Tang San and Chang Gong Miao and disguise them as soul-beast casualties. Yu Luomian refuses, citing the political danger posed by Tang Hao and the Star Luo imperial family. 65

Zhu Qing’s Escape

Yu Tianlong mistakes Zhu Qing’s staged interest for genuine affection. Ning Rongrong and Zhu Qing exploit this belief to make him drink a knockout drug, steal the Narcissus Jade Muscle Bone from his Storage Soul Tool, and leave Shrek Academy. 79 80

He returns to Shrek expecting to reunite with Zhu Qing, only to discover that she and Ning Rongrong have fled and emptied the container holding his Whale Rubber. The betrayal leaves him humiliated and enraged. 83

Conflict with Shrek and Yu Xiaogang

Yu Tianlong attacks Yu Xiaogang when the latter attempts to stop his confrontation with the Shrek students. Protected by a Blue Lightning Tyrant Dragon Sect Soul Douluo, he then exposes the Clear Sky Sect’s losses and Tang Lie’s attempt to capture Xiao Wu. 84

He later denounces Yu Xiaogang’s “Ten Core Competencies of Martial Soul,” arguing that the principal danger of high-year Soul Rings is Soul Shock, not simply excessive energy. He severely beats and cripples Yu Xiaogang before Flender expels him from Shrek Academy. 85
