Thanks to Quincy's assumptions and misunderstanding, Sifa did not have to invent an excuse to conceal that he was taking these gems for the ritual to retrieve Clarence's Door.
Sifa even smiled nonchalantly and shrugged, which only made him look like a scoundrel in Quincy's eyes.
Quincy snorted. "I never thought a noble would stoop to petty theft."
"What you see isn't necessarily the truth," Sifa replied calmly.
"Spare me the cryptic act." Quincy was not buying it at all.
Before Sifa could respond, they suddenly heard a loud, muffled explosion.
They immediately knew that this was Amyrius's signal!
"Move." Luer An took the lead, vaulting through a nearby window as he spoke rapidly. "That Door is out at sea. We need to seize a ship. We're heading to the docks."
"If we're discovered, do your best to break away. Our main task is to destroy the Door, not play war games with the Feysac people."
Using the buildings as cover, they quickly crossed more than half the base while its soldiers were distracted by the explosion Amyrius had caused.
As they approached a cluster of soldiers' barracks, Sifa suddenly sensed something. He snapped his head up and saw fireballs hurtling toward them.
"Watch out!"
Sifa shoved Edward away from his side and rolled in the opposite direction, letting the fireballs fall between them and explode violently.
Waves of crimson fire erupted among them, one after another. After the barrage, someone landed on the ground.
"I knew it. That explosion at the docks was far too obvious, practically a smokescreen meant to hide something. So a few Loen rats have sneaked into the base."
Sifa looked over and saw a figure approaching. It was a man in a Feysac military uniform, looking quite young, in his thirties. His dark brown
