"Someone's coming," whispered Paroni, who had black hair and brown eyes.
Sifa looked out the window. Several carriages approached along the cold, deserted street and stopped outside a row of warehouses opposite their surveillance post.
The carriage doors opened, and people climbed out one after another. By the light of the streetlamps outside the warehouses, Sifa spotted a Loen gentleman with graying temples, dressed in formal attire and carrying a gold-inlaid cane.
Paroni turned to Alfred beside him. "Look, it's Dwayne Dantès. They say this gentleman is very generous. Not long after arriving in Backlund, he donated shares worth over ten thousand pounds to the Church of Evernight. Is this the upfront investment you're always talking about?"
