Over the next few days, Sifa let the projection of the Hunter Rayleigh go about his usual activities.
Only after helping the Church complete another commission did he formally bid Kranbarit farewell.
"You're leaving?"
When Kranbarit heard that Rayleigh was leaving, he felt rather reluctant to see him go.
This Hunter was both capable and polite, quite unlike most adventurers and bounty hunters.
Working with him had been a pleasure for Kranbarit, so naturally, he did not want Rayleigh to leave.
"Yes, I've been in Lenburg for over two months now."
"I have other things to attend to, so unfortunately, I must go." Rayleigh looked apologetic.
A few days earlier,
after an intrusion had been discovered in the underground section of the National Library,
the Church of Knowledge had quietly launched an investigation.
Foreign adventurers and hunters like Rayleigh had received particular scrutiny.
However, someone had seen Rayleigh at a bar near the inn on the night of the incident.
Thus, Klein had ruled him out as a suspect.
More importantly, he did not believe a Sequence 5 Hunter could break into the underground section.
Especially not the heavily guarded third level.
Now that he heard Rayleigh was leaving, he did not connect it to the intrusion at the library.
Instead, he thought of Lenburg's current circumstances.
Hemmed in by Intis and Feysac, Lenburg had lost most of its territory.
Only the capital and a few nearby cities remained untouched by the war.
The situation was unfavorable for Lenburg.
For someone like Rayleigh, who was neither a citizen of Lenburg nor a believer of the Church,
leaving was a very sensible choice.
Kranbarit nodded. "All right. To thank you for your efforts during this time, I can answer one more question for you."
"You may ask anything."
