When the Tarot Club members turned to him after the World's remarks, Abner glanced discreetly at the Fool in the seat of honor, then briefly recounted what had happened in Trier.
He left out everything concerning the River of Eternal Darkness and his own abilities, of course. Instead, he focused on Bernadette's contribution and the contingency Emperor Roselle had left behind in the Delien Family's secret chamber: the Triumphal Arch.
"I never imagined the Triumphal Arch was something Emperor Roselle had prepared to deal with the Abyss! I thought it was just a spectacle..." After hearing Abner's account, Audrey looked astonished. Then she asked curiously, "Mr. Tower, who exactly was the demon the prime minister of Intis sacrificed himself to summon? Why did that cause the Abyss to descend?"
As soon as she spoke, she realized this was not cheap knowledge that could be shared freely, and hurriedly added, "I can pay an appropriate price for the information."
"No need..." Abner smiled knowingly. He said nothing more, but Audrey somehow "read" a sentence in his surface thoughts: "Consider it your birthday present."
Ah, Mr. Tower really remembered my birthday... And he used some extraordinary way to pass on the message so he wouldn't expose my identity... Audrey immediately understood, and thought it was a wonderful birthday present!
