"Mr. Tower, I'd like to ask you for a favor."
Abner did not answer at once. Ever the professional, he first bowed to Mr. Fool at the head of the table, then looked toward the far end of the ancient table. As expected, Mr. World was there.
He was about to speak when he noticed someone else seated across from him. She was not one of the three women he knew: Miss Justice, Miss Magician, or Miss Judgment.
Who is she? Another new Tarot Club member? The Hermit? Or has Klein finally abandoned all shame and made himself a female dummy identity?
As these thoughts raced through Abner's mind, the Fool spoke from the head of the table. "This is Miss Temperance, our newest member."
Miss Temperance? Abner repeated the title to himself. When she rose and curtsied, he took a careful look at her clothes.
A black Gothic court dress, a small matching hat, pale blond hair. The Gray Fog hides her face, but something about her doesn't seem quite human. No wonder I thought she might be Klein's new identity.
That's Miss Sharron, isn't it? What happened on her end that I don't know about? Why did Klein have to bring her into the Tarot Club?
Abner knew the Fool—Klein—well enough. Unless someone joined willingly, he would never force them to recite his Honorific Name and enter the Tarot Club.
And what Mid-Sequence Beyonder with a solid understanding of the mystical world would willingly approach a god of unknown origin, unless they were desperate or had some compelling reason?
Other than me, of course. After greeting Miss Temperance, Abner turned to the matter at hand. "What would you like me to do?"
"We hope you can use Suggestion to make us forget everything related to Sealed Artifact 0-08,"
