Through song, it could bring misfortune to others, soothe souls, and produce other effects. It was especially effective against spirits, making it a useful complement to an Alchemist's largely physical means of attack.

More importantly, after the Mechanical Emperor's fall, the necklace was the only item that could affect the Evernight Barrier enough to shut it down briefly and let exploration teams pass through.
