At the Town's Pokémon Center.
Miss Joy hesitated as Baimu handed her another Poké Ball.
If she hadn't known who he was, she would probably have called Officer Jenny by now.
"Champion, you need to take good care of your Poké Balls!"
She couldn't help reminding him.
"You've probably misunderstood," Baimu said. "These balls aren't mine. The Pokémon inside got trapped because of something I can't really discuss."
Miss Joy looked surprised. "They're not yours?"
She placed the worn Poké Ball in the scanner beside her. Sure enough, it was registered not to Baimu, but to a boy named Ryuto.
"Champion, this..."
"Just a moment."
Baimu smiled and video-called Ryuto. Once he answered, Baimu passed the phone to Miss Joy.
On the screen, the bewildered boy kept calling Baimu's name. Miss Joy asked, "Your friend brought in several Poké Balls registered under your name..."
"Oh! I lent them to him! Sorry for the trouble, Miss Joy!" Ryuto apologized without hesitation.
"No, no, I'm sorry," Miss Joy said quickly. "I just had to confirm it as part of the procedure. Sorry to bother you."
The call ended.
"I'm terribly sorry I doubted you, Champion!"
She stood at once and bowed awkwardly.
Baimu hurriedly bowed back. "No need. It's your job to check."
After a few more polite words,
Miss Joy took the Poké Balls inside for repairs.
The Loyal Three tried to follow, but Nurse Blissey blocked the treatment-room door without mercy. No matter how much they pleaded, all they got was a firm "no."
Bang!
The Loyal Three stared at the closed white door like family members shut out of an operating room.
Baimu paid the three fools no mind. He was chatting with Ogerpon.
