"Regigigas!"
Brandon's shout came a moment too late.
It wasn't that he had reacted slowly. He simply hadn't expected Regigigas to ignore him and attack Baimu directly.
Cynthia held a Poké Ball in one hand and watched Regigigas return to its throne. "Could the myth be true?" she murmured.
"What myth?"
After confirming with his own eyes that Baimu was unharmed, Brandon looked intrigued.
As both an archaeologist and an adventurer, he was interested in every myth.
Cynthia said, "Legend has it that countless hidden tales are recorded on the backs of Arceus's Plates. One of them says: 'The power bestowed upon the Plates is the power of the Titan that was defeated.'"
"'The power of the Titan that was defeated...'"
Brandon glanced at the giants around them, then at Regigigas, back on its throne.
Could the Plates' power have come from Regigigas?
Baimu wasn't convinced either way. He didn't know how things worked in the games, but in the anime, the Plates—also known as the Origin of Life—had no inscriptions on their backs. The words had most likely come from Cynthia's ancestors, the ancient People of Celestica.
They had lived alongside the Ten Nobles in ancient Hisui. They had probably been the ones who gave the Plates to the Nobles, too.
"So Regigigas saw Baimu's Space-Time Wristband and Plates, and that's why it attacked," Brandon said after a pause. "Did it stop because it realized its companions were protecting him?"
He walked up to Regigigas and looked up at the towering Giant King. "Is that right, Regigigas? I'm sorry we disturbed your sleep!"
Regigigas was willing to give Brandon an answer. Light flashed in the vents on its chest, arranged like the Big Dipper, and a deep hum echoed through the hall.
