Baimu said goodbye to Lisia.

The next Pokémon Contest was eight days away.

After thinking it over, Baimu decided to challenge the Rustboro Gym first. He had been preparing for it for a long time, watching footage of its battles ever since he left Petalburg City.

Once that was done, he could focus on the various Pokémon Contest themes, along with the moves and transitions he would need.

Mawile supported the decision. After seeing Lisia and Altaria perform together, she no longer wanted to step onto the Pokémon Contest stage without preparing. She would find that embarrassing.

"Do you want to battle at the Gym too?"

"Maw!"

"You want to do both, huh..."

Baimu realized Mawile had no intention of giving up either battling or Pokémon Contests.

That suited him fine.

He didn't particularly want separate teams for the League Conference and Pokémon Contests. Being both strong and beautiful, like Wallace, would be ideal.

He took the tram to the Rustboro Gym. As he approached, he saw its exterior surrounded by enormous boulders, giving the whole building a solid, imposing air.

Come to think of it, the Rustboro Gym Leader, Roxanne, loved stones. Her passion for them was why she specialized in Rock-type Pokémon.

She was also a teacher at the Pokémon Trainer School, and her reputation online was excellent. Almost every Trainer who had challenged the Rustboro Gym said they had learned a great deal from battling her. Alongside Winona, she was hailed as one of Hoenn's most beautiful female Gym Leaders.

She even had a devoted fan base.

Baimu was curious how much he could learn from her.

"Beep! Appointment confirmed!"

The smart guide at the entrance announced his successful booking. Roxanne would be free in an hour; she was teaching a class at the Pokémon Trainer School
