"Magnezone is unable to battle! Aggron wins!"
Walter's voice rang out over the arena.
The shock still hadn't left Wattson's face. His eyes remained fixed on Mega Aggron.
"One hit was all it took..."
Mega Stones and Key Stones had yet to become standard issue for Gym Leaders. To Wattson, they were rare things—he had encountered them, but knew little about them.
He hadn't expected Mega Evolution to be this powerful!
For a moment, Wattson's feelings were complicated. He was thrilled to face a strong opponent, yet stunned that his Pokémon had been crushed in a single blow. It almost felt as though Baimu were the Gym Leader administering a test, rather than the other way around.
And given the team Wattson had decided to use, that might well be how things went.
"Come back!"
Wattson recalled Magnezone, then forced out a few hearty laughs. "Gahaha! You've got some skill! Looks like I'll have to get serious!"
He threw a Poké Ball.
"Go, Voltorb! Magnet Rise!"
Pop!
A flash of white light became an enormous Poké Ball half as tall as a person, white on top and red below. Two beady black eyes and a broad mouth full of white teeth took the place of its central button.
"Maru!"
The moment Voltorb landed, fine currents raced across its body. As it rose into the air, the currents spread throughout the arena. In the blink of an eye, the ground broke apart into countless rocks of every size, forming a strange Rock Field.
You've got some nerve, making terrain that favors Mega Aggron!
If Baimu hadn't been struggling to suppress the chaotic thoughts in his head, he would probably have said it aloud.
But for some reason, he could share the mental burden that excess Infinity Energy placed on Mega Aggron.
