Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Aggron (evolved from Lairon) 94 Evolved during the Pyrite Arena semifinals while under extreme pressure from Claydol; immediately charged with Double-Edge and continued fighting despite paralysis. 94
Level 60 164–166 Baimu invested more than ten stored simulator levels into Aggron. It stayed calm throughout the surge, then overwhelmed Alpha Steelix through Sand Tomb, Surf, Stomping Tantrum, and Superpower. 164 166
Mega Aggron 384 Successfully Mega Evolved for the first time through resonance between Baimu's borrowed Key Stone and Aggronite. The form ended early due to the severe mental burden on both partners. 384
Level 71 339 Reached level 71 during the Battle Tent period; its ordinary level growth had begun slowing substantially. 339
Level 73 477 Learned Stealth Rock and developed the long-distance-leaping “Explosive Charge” combat method while training with Steven's Aggron. 477
Level 76 642 Had risen from level 68 to 76 since leaving Pyrite Town, though progress had become markedly slow. 642
Level 90 902 Reached level 90 by the time of the battle-planning discussion involving Calyrex. 902
Level 98 1354–1355 Baimu poured his accumulated level rewards into Aggron, then used Creation Power to stabilize the overwhelming surge. Its defense became strong enough to endure Calyrex's ice lances without severing the Reins of Unity. 1354 1355

Background

Aggron began as Baimu's first personally captured Pokémon. It later remembered that their meeting in Underground City had been arranged by a time-loop: a future version of itself had helped ensure that its younger self survived long enough to meet Baimu. Aggron regards that meeting, rather than power or fame, as the defining event of its life. 164 1479

It evolved from Lairon in the Pyrite Arena semifinals against Shan Ren's Claydol. Although Claydol's Earth Power exploited Aggron's severe Ground-type weakness, Aggron forced through the attack with Double-Edge, landed a final Flash Cannon, and collapsed only after exhausting itself. Baimu comforted it after the loss and called it his pride. 94

After reaching level 60, Aggron became the decisive force in Baimu's taming of Alpha Steelix. Its crushing victory established it as Steelix's designated “Big Brother” in Baimu's household hierarchy. 166 167

Aggron eventually claimed a mountain territory near Moon-Watching Lake. It maintains plants, digs irrigation channels, feeds local aquatic Pokémon, and reacts fiercely to outsiders occupying its land. Baimu supports its ownership claim while requiring it to avoid attacking first. 190 698 997 1354

Appearance

Aggron is an exceptionally large, heavily armored Pokémon whose silver-and-dark-gray body has been compared to a tank, a mountain, and an immovable fortress. Its armor is marked by battle scars that are treated as signs of careful raising rather than neglect. 94 254

  • Stands 245 cm tall and weighs 430 kg, far above the average described for its species. 95
  • Has bright silver armor, a plated helmet-like skull covering, a reinforced snout, two sharp head horns, and a long heavy tail. 94
  • Exhales white steam while fighting; its pale blue or lake-blue eyes are frequently noted for their calm intensity. 94 869
  • Stores its Aggronite securely in a hollow cavity in its head, which does not connect to its brain and also assists its sand-spraying anatomy. 234
  • As Mega Aggron, its armor becomes more extensive, its tail is bound by several thick steel rings, and its appearance resembles a moving silver fortress. 637 869

Personality

Aggron is proud, territorial, and intensely devoted to Baimu. It wants to be the team’s strongest protector, but it increasingly defines the role of ace not merely as winning battles, but as easing Baimu's burdens and caring for overlooked companions. 367 839

It is protective of its territory, vegetation, and personal resources. It once retaliated after Baimu teased it about species-related chewing habits, panicked when Steelix nearly fell onto its shrubs, and refused to let another Aggron remain on its mountain. 138 168 273

Despite its intimidating appearance, Aggron is gentle with trusted companions. It changed Shiny Feebas's water each morning, created wave-training exercises for it, and helped guide Steelix after the latter joined the household. 367 373 168

Aggron can also be vain and teasing. It takes obvious satisfaction in using Metal Burst to humiliate opponents, enjoys provoking Hydreigon, and has developed a preference for visually dramatic attacks. 1284 1156 637

Abilities & Skills

Defensive Fortitude

Aggron's defining trait is its extreme endurance. It routinely withstands attacks that should be super effective, then turns its opponents' confidence into an opening. 268 616 980

  • Endured Hariyama's Focus Blast and defeated it through Metal Burst despite a severe Fighting-type disadvantage. 268
  • Took Crawdaunt's Water-type Crabhammer with only two visible impact marks. 616
  • Withstood Annihilape's Close Combat in Mega form, with its armor and Filter negating the expected advantage. 980
  • At level 98, endured Calyrex's ice lances without needing to break the Reins of Unity. 1355
  • Uses Iron Defense to reinforce its already formidable armor, particularly before Body Press combinations. 615 870

Metal Burst

Aggron specializes in absorbing damage and returning it at devastating force. It treats the move as both a finishing technique and a way to mock opponents whose strongest attacks fail to break its defense. 540 1284

  • Defeated Brawly's Hariyama after surviving a close-range Focus Blast. 268
  • Used accumulated Liquidation damage to defeat Wallace's Mega Swampert. 540
  • Overwhelmed Iris's Goodra after deliberately taking Muddy Water in Mega form. 637
  • Can release the stored force directly rather than only as a mouth-fired projectile. 541

Ground and Rock Techniques

Aggron's preferred battlefield-control style centers on sand, tunneling, stone formations, and direct charging attacks. 268 326 339

  • Sand Tomb — Creates pits, traps, and sandstorms; used to restrain Alpha Steelix and control Hariyama's footing. 166 268
  • Dig — Used for ambushes, evasive movement, and underground positioning. 268 326
  • Stone Edge — Comprehended during the Battle Tent preliminaries; can raise barriers to exploit high-speed opponents' inability to stop. 339
  • Rock Tomb — Used to disrupt footing and restrain targets. 268 326
  • Stomping Tantrum — A Ground-type stomp whose strength rises from frustration after a missed attack. 105
  • High Horsepower — Learned during a clash with Steelix; became one of Aggron's favored direct-charge moves. 346
  • Earth Power — Used as a special-attack option against opponents such as Goodra. 637 638

Physical Finishers

Aggron relies on heavy, direct attacks when it has created an opening or inherited boosts from Mawile. 343 615

  • Body Press — Combines its massive Defense with explosive leaps; instantly defeated Ya Mei's Mightyena and later Gigantamax Duraludon. 615 870
  • Superpower — Used to lift and hurl Alpha Steelix after immobilizing it in mud. 166
  • Heavy Slam — Used in high-impact clashes against Garchomp and other heavy opponents. 638 1001
  • Iron Tail — Used to launch Crawdaunt after it attempted to escape with Aqua Jet. 616
  • Double-Edge — First used after evolving against Claydol; later reproduced with extraordinary power after observing Donphan while holding a Mirror Herb, though the feat exhausted it for two days. 94 419

Dragon-Type Techniques

Aggron learned to use Dragon-type power through structured training with a wild Aggron and Deino. 273 274 287

  • Dragon Rush — Requires momentum, aggression, Dragon-type energy, concentration around the head, and a dragon-shaped manifestation. 274
  • First mastered the emotional and momentum components, then learned to gather Dragon-type energy above its head. 274 287
  • Uses underwater Dragon Rush as a finishing attack after stunning aquatic opponents with Shock Wave. 339
  • Dragon Pulse — Developed as part of its expanding special-attack style and used effectively against Kingdra and Goodra. 631 637

Water and Electric Adaptation

Though naturally disadvantaged against Water-type attacks, Aggron developed an unconventional water-combat style through Surf training, Magnet Rise, and special attacks. 142 339 340

  • Surf — Received from a simulator reward; can run across rushing underground water and use a surfing posture to move through whirlpools. 142 192 631
  • Shock Wave — Used underwater to stun Water-type opponents before finishing them physically. 339
  • Hydro Pump — Learned after Battle Tent water training, prompting Aggron to embrace a Water-oriented fighting style. 340
  • Thunder — Learned to improve its Special Attack and used by channeling electricity through its tail. 346 616
  • Magnet Rise — Temporarily received through Mawile's Baton Pass for much of its career; finally comprehended the move itself after reaching level 98. 168 326 1355

Mega Evolution and Terastallization

Aggron's Aggronite allows it to become Mega Aggron when resonating with Baimu through a Key Stone. 234 384

  • Mega Evolution dramatically improves its armor, combat power, and mental connection with Baimu, but early attempts caused extreme strain. 384
  • Mega Aggron has fought evenly with or defeated opponents including Mega Swampert, Mega Gallade, Gigantamax Duraludon, and Mega Garchomp Z. 540 638 870 1351
  • Chose Ground as its Tera Type to strengthen Sand Tomb and its Ground-type offense. 1255
  • Has also appeared as a Terastallized Gigantamax Aggron during major battles. 1441 1442

Equipment / Items

  • Aggronite — Gifted by Steven; stored in a hollow opening in Aggron's head. 234
  • Mirror Herb — Used during its anomalous one-observation mastery of Double-Edge. 418 419
  • Baimu's Key Stone — Enables its Mega Evolution through their emotional resonance. 384

Relationships

  • Baimu — Trainer, first partner, family, and closest bond. Aggron considers their meeting destined and would stand before Baimu in any danger. 164 367 1479
  • Mawile — Longtime rival and household “Big Sis Boss.” Their sparring is often competitive, but they coordinate effectively through Baton Pass and mutual trust. 165 343
  • Steelix — Junior teammate regarded as Aggron's “younger brother.” Steelix initially feared Aggron after their battle, then sought its approval after joining the team. 166 167
  • Hydreigon — Rival for Baimu's ace position. Aggron frequently teases it, while Hydreigon remains jealous of Aggron's status and power. 1039 1156
  • Shiny Feebas / Shiny Milotic — Aggron acted as an early caretaker and mentor, changing Feebas's water and later training it with artificial waves. 367 373
  • Wild Aggron of Granite Cave — Temporary instructor and training partner who taught Aggron Dragon Rush; Baimu returned it to its waterfall territory after the training concluded. 273 274 296
  • Steven Stone — Mentor figure through whom Aggron received an Aggronite and training opportunities with Steven's two older Aggron. 234 474 477

Story Role / Major Arcs

Pyrite Arena Evolution

Aggron evolved from Lairon during the semifinal battle against Shan Ren's Claydol. Its refusal to yield despite Earth Power, paralysis, and exhaustion established the resilience that would define its later role as Baimu's ace. 94

Alpha Steelix Taming

After Baimu raised Aggron to level 60, it subdued Alpha Steelix through a combination of battlefield control and overwhelming physical force. The battle made Aggron the household's acknowledged senior Steel-type Pokémon. 164 166 167

Claiming a Mountain

Aggron sought a private mountain territory after Orre's liberation. Its territorial instincts led Baimu, Steven, and the team into mountain exploration, digging expeditions, ecological restoration, and eventually a dispute with wild settlers. 190 192 698

Battle Tent Growth

During the Battle Tent preliminaries, Aggron learned Stone Edge, adapted to water arenas, developed an underwater Shock Wave strategy, and learned Hydro Pump. These battles shifted its development beyond raw levels toward move mastery and environmental adaptation. 339 340

Mega Evolution Breakthrough

Baimu chose Aggron for his first Mega Evolution trial. Their successful resonance confirmed the depth of their bond, though maintaining Mega Aggron initially overwhelmed them both. 373 384

Rise as Baimu's Public Trump Card

Aggron became widely recognized for overwhelming defensive performances against opponents such as Ya Mei, Wallace, Iris, Raihan, Ryuto, and Alain. Its reputation as an indestructible silver fortress became central to Baimu's public image. 615 637 870 980 1210

Level-98 Transformation

Baimu secretly prioritized Aggron for a major simulator-powered increase, bringing it to level 98. Its resulting durability surpassed prior limits, while its eventual self-learned Magnet Rise fulfilled a long-standing personal ambition. 1354 1355

Return to Its Origin

During time travel to the era of their first meeting, Aggron recovered the memories of how it had waited for Baimu in an abandoned mine. It then brought a rescued young Aron back to that same location, seeking to preserve the origin of its own destiny. 1478 1479

Trivia

  • Aggron is described as Baimu's equivalent of Ash's Pikachu: his first personally captured Pokémon and most inseparable partner. 164
  • It is so accustomed to Mightyena after Baimu's dealings with the former Hound Team that Intimidate no longer affects it. 615
  • It has repeatedly been offered in Pokémon trades, including offers of Dodrio, Gengar, and Snorlax, but Baimu consistently refuses. 203 340
  • Its species instinct for planting and managing trees is so strong that it considers large trees more fitting than ordinary flowerbeds or shrubs. 480
  • Aggron’s first bond with Baimu began over an iron ingot; Baimu later used the same food to gain a young Aron's trust. 1479
