"Time to bail!"
Baimu dropped his notebook, grabbed his backpack, scooped Mawile off the sofa with one hand, then hooked Dreepy—who was halfway through its meal—with his left foot and caught it on his head before sprinting toward the nearer terrace as fast as he could.
"Chirp?"
"Huh?"
Mawile, holding its phone, looked utterly confused. Dreepy, food still clamped in its mouth, was no different.
Fortunately, since he had been preparing to set out with Pheobe and Poppy at any time—and since he didn't want the ferocious Pokémon at home to scare Dreepy, especially Hydreigon—he hadn't released any of his other Pokémon that night.
That saved him quite a bit of time.
However, when he reached the windowsill, he discovered that the outside had somehow become pitch-black. Although the room was on the second floor near a road, he couldn't see the streetlights, passing cars, or the ground.
"Damn it! Another alternate space!"
Baimu cursed under his breath and quickly turned to run for the door, only to discover that it could no longer be opened. The handle was as hard as stone and wouldn't budge no matter how he twisted it.
He quickly retreated two steps, pulled out a bomb, and threw it at the door.
Boom!
Smoke and dust filled half the living room amid the violent tremors, yet the composite wooden door remained completely unaffected.
What shocked Baimu and the two Pokémon even more was that the room's structure gradually began to change.
First, fragments large and small began peeling away from the door around the handle. In the blink of an eye, the pitch-black modern door had begun changing into a Western-style, brown classical door. Then the ceiling and carpet followed.
Even the structure of the room became completely unrecognizable, and a terrace inexplicably appeared.
