"Thanks for the effort, Gorebyss."
As a seasoned Water-type Pokémon Trainer, Gao Mei was excellent at keeping her composure.
She knew an information gap was an information gap. Aside from blaming herself for not preparing well enough before the match, dwelling on it would do no good.
Instead of regretting her loss in the last battle, she would focus on winning the next one!
"My second Pokémon is this one!"
A Poké Ball flew into the air.
Bang!
White light flashed.
Starmie landed on a stone platform. Its body was formed from two large, pale-purple starfish layered together, with an octagonal red gem set in its center.
"Stah!"
Its voice came from somewhere within its body, low and muffled.
The commentator cried with excitement, "Gao Mei's second Pokémon is Starmie! How will Dragapult respond?"
Gao Mei had switched Pokémon quickly.
Clearly, she had no intention of dragging things out and giving Dragapult another chance to raise its power.
When Baimu saw that her second Pokémon was Starmie, his raised hand paused for a moment. Then he issued his command.
"Dragon Dance!"
A third boost!
As Dragapult wheeled through the air, crimson Dragon Flame swirling around it, the commotion in the stands refused to die down.
Some thought Baimu was getting greedy. Two Dragon Dances were frightening enough. With such a sharp increase in speed in so little time, could Dragapult truly control it?
Its offensive and defensive power were one thing.
Speed was not something where more was always better. The faster you went, the harder it was to stop. Even a sprinter running the hundred meters needed a long stretch to slow down afterward.
Others believed that if Baimu dared have his Pokémon boost itself, it must be able to handle the speed.
The debate did not last long.
