Instead, the Ninja Boy had been sent to a juvenile correctional facility for the serious offense of altering records as a minor.
His tournament victory had been stripped from him, and he could not even see his own Pokémon most of the time. He spent three full years there before getting out.
Those three years might even have been the result of a reduced sentence.
More surprising still, the Lilycove Gym Leader had closed the Pokémon Gym to help the Ninja Boy develop a drug to cure his grandfather!
That selfless decision alone moved Baimu deeply.

Baimu decided to look up the news later. An eight-year-old whose tournament victory had been revoked before he was sent to a correctional facility was surely a part of Hoenn history.
If the Ninja Boy had given up the trainer's path to study medicine, it made sense that Baimu had not heard much about him lately.
