Pheobe gave a soft sound of surprise.
Baimu, though, found it rather strange.
Liddy had received Long He's remains from Banette...
When had the Spirit World Entrance appeared? Liddy was only an ordinary person. To meet Banette, wouldn't he have had to enter the Rift between the real world and the Spirit World?
He couldn't help looking at Pheobe beside him.
"Why are you looking at me? You went into Room 1608 alone too." Pheobe gave him an odd look.
Baimu tried to argue. "I used the Ancient Script—"
Pheobe raised a finger and wagged it. "Ancient Script or something else, the principle's the same. Entering the Spirit World requires two things: a medium and a special environment. Meet those conditions, and anyone can get in."
You're the expert. You're right.
He accepted her explanation and turned to the next question: could the remains Liddy had received really be confirmed as Long He's?
How likely was it that Banette had lied to Liddy?
Or...
Had Banette lied to him and Pheobe? But what would be the point? Unless Banette was certain they couldn't return after leaving, or that they would never find Long He.
Shan Ren had thought of this too. He took out his phone, ready to make another call, then reconsidered and said to Baimu, "Let's go see Mr. Liddy in person!"
Better to ask him face-to-face than talk over the phone!
"I'll call Hoopa."
Without another word, Baimu took out his phone and called Barza, asking him to send Hoopa over to help.
He had to give the rebuilt telecommunications infrastructure in Pyrite Town credit. There was signal even this deep underground, saving them a climb back to the surface.
While they waited,
Shan Ren gave them a brief account of exactly what Liddy had told him.
