Of the seven, only Tang San and Xiao Wu were short on money.
Dai Mubai and Zhu Zhuqing went without saying—they casually spent fortunes worth millions. Oscar and Ma Hongjun had followed Dai Mubai in placing bets at the Great Soul Arena and had saved up quite a bit as well. Ning Rongrong was even the little princess of the Seven Treasure Glazed Tile Sect, so money was nothing more than a number to her.
Everyone booked a private room for the sake of peace and quiet.
Only Tang San and Xiao Wu were strapped for cash.
The two exchanged a glance and gritted their teeth. In the end, they each booked a private room anyway.
Once their rooms were arranged, Ma Hongjun impatiently called out, "Let's eat first! We can rest upstairs after we're full."
The seven found a table in the restaurant and sat down.
Dai Mubai looked around and laughed. "It's rare for all of us to eat out together. As the academy's leader, I'll treat everyone today. Fatty, go order some good dishes. Don't save my money!"
"Got it! Boss Dai, you're so generous!" Ma Hongjun's eyes lit up. He immediately called over a server and rapidly pointed at the menu. "This one, this one, this one, and this one..."
Dai Mubai then waved Oscar over. "Little Ao, go order some good dishes and have the waiter send them to Teacher Zhao's room."
"Understood!" Oscar nodded knowingly and went off to carry out the order.
Before long, Ma Hongjun had rapidly ordered more than a dozen dishes. They filled the table, their rich aroma wafting through the air and their colors looking enticing.
Tang San and Xiao Wu, who were used to living frugally, couldn't help drooling at the sumptuous spread.
"Don't be shy. Dig in!" Dai Mubai urged.
The seven sat around the table. Apart from Tang San, whose face still held a trace of gloom because of the argument in the carriage, the atmosphere was fairly harmonious.
By now, six or seven out of every ten tables in the restaurant were occupied, most by weary Soul Masters.
Just then, a group of extremely ostentatious people suddenly entered from outside.
At the head was a middle-aged man who looked to be in his forties. He had a stocky build and wore a moon-white Soul Master robe.
Behind him followed six young men and one young woman, all around twenty years old. They wore the same moon-white Soul Master robes.
Two words were embroidered on each of their left shoulders: "Canghui."
Dai Mubai's gaze swept over them, and he thought to himself, Canghui Academy really did come. We're truly fated enemies!
That middle-aged man should be Ye Zhiqiu, the director of Canghui Academy's External Affairs Department—a level fifty-three Soul King with the Black Tortoise Martial Soul.
Canghui was, after all, a noble academy in Suotuo City. Its students came from very well-off families, and they wore the academy's refined uniforms, their faces carrying an innate flamboyance and arrogance.
One of the tall young men even reached out and roughly shoved aside a server carrying a tray, cursing, "Get lost! Don't block the way!"
The server staggered from the shove. Though furious, he didn't dare say anything and hurriedly stepped aside.
The people from Canghui Academy sat at an empty table nearby. The young man immediately shouted, "Boss, get the food out quickly! Are you trying to starve me to death?"
Seeing this, the restaurant owner approached with a smile plastered across his face.
Most of the people who came here were Soul Masters. He couldn't afford to offend them.
Dai Mubai frowned slightly, a trace of coldness flashing in his eyes.
The people from Canghui Academy were truly arrogant beyond measure.
Ma Hongjun leaned close to Dai Mubai and lowered his voice. "Boss Dai, aren't those people from Canghui Academy being a little too cocky?"
Dai Mubai disliked them as well. They were merely minor nobles, and Ye Zhiqiu was only a Soul King. What was there to fear?
He curled his lips and deliberately raised his voice. "It's only a tiny Canghui Academy. What are they acting so high and mighty for?"
Oscar chuckled softly from the side. "There's going to be a good show."
Xiao Wu immediately grew interested. "What good show?"
"That group is too arrogant. Boss Dai probably wants to teach them a lesson," Oscar explained.
This time, Oscar didn't once again spout the astonishing saying, "Those who don't dare cause trouble are mediocre."
Still, if young people weren't hot-blooded, could they really be called young?
Dai Mubai generally didn't take the initiative to cause trouble, but when faced with people this outrageously arrogant, he couldn't help feeling the urge to act. The Douluo Continent was no civilized society, after all.
Most of those eating in the restaurant were Soul Masters. Although the people from Canghui Academy were flamboyant, they only dared bully the restaurant owner and servers. Before figuring out Dai Mubai and the others' identities, they didn't dare flip the table right away.
Ye Zhiqiu carefully observed the people from Shrek Academy. Seeing that they were all young and dressed plainly—with some even looking rather shabby—he began to look down on them.
He called the tall young man over and whispered a few words to him. The young man nodded, a vicious glint flashing in his eyes.
Soon, the young man swaggered toward Dai Mubai's table.
At that moment, a server happened to be carrying over a plate of food.
The young man suddenly quickened his pace and pretended to bump into the server accidentally, slamming hard into him!
"Ah!"
The server cried out in alarm. The tray flew from his hands straight toward Dai Mubai's face!
Dai Mubai tilted his head slightly, and the plate smashed onto the floor with a crack.
The young man froze for a moment, clearly not expecting Dai Mubai to react so quickly. He continued forward as if nothing had happened, but as he passed Dai Mubai, one foot suddenly swept sideways and kicked directly at the leg of Dai Mubai's chair.
"You're looking for death."
Dai Mubai sneered inwardly. He merely raised his right foot slightly and precisely blocked the sweeping leg.
There was a muffled bang.
"Ow!"
The young man felt as though he had kicked an iron plate. Pain shot through him, and he let out a shrill howl.
Immediately afterward, Dai Mubai struck out with his palm.
The young man had no time to react. He only felt a tremendous force slam into his chest, sending him flying like a kite with its string cut. With a rumble, he crashed heavily onto the dining table occupied by the people from Canghui Academy.
The restaurant erupted in an uproar.
But most of those eating here were Soul Masters who lived by the blade's edge. Not only did they fail to leave, they set down their chopsticks one after another and watched the scene excitedly.
How could the people from Canghui Academy endure this?
The remaining six students rose in unison, eyes wide with rage as they glared at the table of people from Shrek Academy.
Ye Zhiqiu's face darkened as he shouted at Dai Mubai, "You brats, which academy are you from?!"
Dai Mubai replied disdainfully, "Enough with the rambling. If you want to fight, then fight. Why all the nonsense? We simply can't stand the sight of you!"
Ye Zhiqiu's face turned livid with anger. "What a bunch of arrogant brats! Teach them a lesson!"
The students from Canghui Academy had been waiting for him to give the word.
Three of them immediately charged toward Dai Mubai and the others' table, their momentum fierce.
Xiao Wu, who loved fighting, and Ma Hongjun, Dai Mubai's "henchman," immediately rose to meet them. In the blink of an eye—
"Bang! Bang! Bang!"
Three figures flew backward at an even greater speed than when they had charged in, landing at Ye Zhiqiu's feet and crying out in pain!
"Is that all Canghui Academy is capable of?" Ma Hongjun dusted off his hands and said with disdain.
Seeing this, the remaining students from Canghui Academy immediately summoned their Martial Souls and Soul Rings.
However, their configurations were truly shabby. Each of them had only one white and one yellow Soul Ring.
Don't assume that every noble could obtain the optimal Soul Ring configuration. Xiao Chenyu, the son of the lord of Notting City, had even possessed a white first Soul Ring. These minor nobles were naturally no exception.
