Background / History

Fine originated as a priestess of a prehistoric civilization. To preserve herself, she engraved her soul into her own DNA. When a descendant carrying that DNA encountered an awakened Relic waveform, Fine could revive within the descendant’s body and replace its original identity. In the present era, she inhabited the body of Ryouko Sakurai 14.

Fine’s central objective was to reconnect humanity. She claimed that alchemy and music were inventions created to help restore communication between people 159. In the distant past, she built a tower in the Land of Shinar to reach an ancient beloved figure. The tower was destroyed, and a “curse of confusion” was cast over humanity. After centuries of failed attempts to reunite people, Fine concluded that the moon was the source of the curse and that destroying it was the only remaining solution 100 106.

In the present day, Fine employed Raye as a mercenary, bodyguard, and technical collaborator. She hired Raye to guard her villa and offered her access to Heresy Technology, including the temporary use of the Bronze Serpent Armor and Staff of Solomon 5 10 11. Fine also used Chris Yukine’s Relic compatibility to advance her plans, presenting the false promise that force could permanently end war 93.

Fine eventually activated Kadingir, a hidden tower and charged-particle cannon constructed beneath Second Division Headquarters. She intended to fire it at the moon and eliminate the supposed source of humanity’s division 100. After Kadingir was destroyed and her body was defeated, Fine continued to pursue her objective through the Bronze Serpent Armor and the moon fragment damaged by the cannon 105 106.

Fine later assisted Raye in rebuilding civilization after the Chaos Curse caused worldwide violence and communication failure. Raye developed the Sky Striker’s Linked Blade technology as a substitute for a universal language, while Fine helped construct amplifying devices at Spirit Vein nodes 121. Their solution restored order through mental domination, forcing humanity into obedience.

Fine’s relationship with Raye deteriorated as Raye’s actions increasingly conflicted with Fine’s plans. Fine and Carol later developed weapons intended to challenge Raye, including a modified Symphogear system incorporating Linker technology and the Relic fragment Dáinsleif 172. Fine was eventually separated from Shirabe and imprisoned within a mental domain created by Raye’s Reiku Armor 166 192.

Appearance

Fine appears in the present through Ryouko Sakurai’s body, using Ryouko’s identity while retaining her own consciousness and memories. She is described as a cool, graceful woman who often wears professional work clothes and maintains a composed public appearance 14 99.

Fine is confident, theatrical, manipulative, and intensely goal-oriented. She often treats people as instruments for her plans, most clearly when she deceives Chris about her ability to end war and later declares Chris useless 93.

She is also playful and provocative in personal interactions, particularly with Raye. Fine repeatedly invades Raye’s personal space and attempts to blur their employer–employee relationship, despite Raye’s repeated warnings 5 65 66. At the same time, she respects competence and determination. She accepts Miku’s decision to undergo a painful combat-data procedure because of Miku’s resolve to save Raye 143.

Fine’s ideology is rooted in a deep distrust of unregulated human behavior. She believes humanity will continue slaughtering itself without domination or enforced connection. Hibiki’s insistence on communication causes Fine to reconsider parts of that belief, but Fine continues creating catastrophic solutions when she believes ordinary understanding is insufficient 106 105.

Fine is captured and separated from Shirabe by Raye, who confines her soul within a mental prison 166 192. Raye later takes Fine into the Domain’s control room, where Fine becomes part of the final conflict between Raye and the seven Singers 193 197.
