Calgar's messenger arrived at the Third Company's quarters early that morning.

Fabian opened the door, saw the messenger in the corridor, and wondered if they had come to take the priest away again. He nearly shut the door.

"...The Chapter Master summons Priest Lin En and Captain Fabian to discuss postwar commendations and appointments."

The messenger held the door open and handed Fabian the summons without a trace of expression.

Lin En's new quarters were next to Fabian's. He was still getting used to them when he heard someone say his name outside, so he poked his head out.

The messenger's expression changed the moment he saw Lin En.

He gave Lin En a warm smile. "Good morning, Priest Lin En! I'm so glad to see you've recovered. The Chapter Master's direct order is for you and Captain Fabian to come to his office at nine o'clock sharp to discuss an important matter."
