The Third Company's captain had finally had most of his Power Armor fragments removed.
The Techmarines worked with crisp efficiency, without the slightest regard for his feelings. In just a few swift motions, they stripped away nearly all the armor still clinging to him, leaving only a tattered black undersuit, torn like a sieve.
It was fine. The black undersuit could be replaced too. Once they took it off, they could simply put on a new one.
A Apothecary handed him a damp towel. He took it and quickly wiped the sweat and blood from his face.
He looked like a respectable company captain again.
He was just about to climb down from the armor-removal platform and change into a fresh undersuit, while taking the opportunity to ask the Apothecary about Lin En's examination results.
Then Guilliman's image lit up in the very center of the Temple of Correction.
The Third Company's captain had one foot on the platform and the other hanging in midair, as though someone had pressed the pause button.
He heard his old man's words: "Priest Lin En, by the will of His Majesty the Emperor, you are formally summoned to Terra to pay your respects."
Every word was crystal clear, hammering into his brain until it buzzed.
The Priest was going to Terra?
Lin En received the order in a flash, while the Third Company's captain was still standing on the platform with his mouth hanging open, looking from side to side.
What? What was going on? Wasn't he still undergoing a physical examination just now?
The examination results were not even finished yet when the Chapter Master rushed in and handed over a communicator. Once the call connected, the Regent was on the other end. The moment the Regent spoke, it was to say
