Martinez's wild laughter and mockery rang out from the Bloodvine Puppet again. "Cristiano, is that all you've got? Looks like I overestimated you. After all these years, you're still a Magic Apprentice. You really are a talentless mediocrity. This ends today!"
Despite the taunts, the green soulfire in Cristiano's eye sockets remained calm and indifferent, as though Martinez's words were no more than wind passing his ears. Only when Green's command sounded in his mind did he swing his Magic Staff, sending a volley of poisonous fangs flying.
At the same time, the elite Ghouls and Zombies hidden among the ordinary Skeleton Soldiers surged forward and seized the Bloodvine Puppet that housed Martinez's Split Soul.
The Bloodvine Puppet had just dodged the Poison Fang Volley when it paused for a fraction of a second, and they caught its limbs. The Ghouls were agile but lacked strength; they could grab the puppet, but they could not pin it down. The monster, so warped it barely looked human, writhed and struggled, on the verge of throwing them off. Then the slower Zombies arrived. With brute strength and bodies weighing over two hundred pounds apiece, five or six of them piled on and pinned its legs and two slender, tentacle-like arms fast.
"Damn you! Filthy ants, die!" Martinez roared. Dark-red bloodlight gathered around the Bloodvine Puppet, and a terrifying surge of Psychic Energy erupted from it.
