The Terrifying Skeleton Lord (3)

Earlier, Green had seen that four of the nine burial chambers were empty and assumed they had never been used. Now he realized he was wrong. They had likely sealed away supernatural beings such as spirits, which had long since been worn to dust by the passing ages. But the Skeleton Lord had endured and grown stronger, devouring the Soul Essence of the other monsters and giving free rein to the rage and malice it had built up during its imprisonment.

After destroying the main burial chamber on this side, the Skeleton Lord ignored the other three smaller chambers and charged toward one in another direction. With the same crude, direct method, it smashed open the sturdy chamber and drove a fist inside. There was a pool in the center of this chamber too, but its water was not emerald green. It was red as blood!

As the chamber shattered, before the Skeleton Lord's enormous Bone Claw could come crashing down, a lightly armored warrior burst from the blood-red pool with a boom. A finger-thick wound pierced her forehead. She was almost identical to the Angel Corpse Witch Green had obtained: a female Angel of extraordinary beauty, with a graceful figure, wings on her back, and the same style of Gold-Trimmed Rune Armor. Only her weapon was different. Instead of lightning-wreathed Dual Swords, she held a two-handed greatsword blazing with fire.

The Greatsword Angel rushed out and slashed at the Skeleton Lord's head. It met her blade with a palm strike, and when the blow struck the flaming greatsword, a boom rang out like an exploding Bomb. A mass of searing flame erupted between them and engulfed them both.
