With a bang, the explosion from the Enchanted Bullet blew the tips off both tentacles.
Bloody Undead Martinez showed no surprise. As if he had expected it, he remained where he was, in no hurry to pursue them. An eerie, vicious sneer spread across his blood-formed face.
The next instant came a string of wet bursts: pop, pop, pop, pop!
Then the horses screamed. Four bloody tentacles had shot up from beneath the ground, each piercing a horse's belly.
Martinez had stayed still because he had sent four tentacles underground from beneath his feet.
As a Formal Rank Paladin, Reinhard reacted first. Sensing danger, he sprang into the air and barely avoided the bloody tentacle that pierced his horse. But the tentacle refused to let him go. It split into countless thin red threads that shot toward him with a whizz, whizz, whizz!
Reinhard whirled the Holy Sword Rifle before him like a wheel, knocking aside the red threads with a rapid series of piercing metallic clashes.
The other three Holy Crusaders were not so lucky. Bloody tentacles pierced their horses before they could react. They froze for an instant, then pain tore through them as the tentacles punched through their bodies. A powerful suction drained every drop of blood from them and all four horses. Their screams cut off in the blink of an eye.
Reinhard's face turned ashen, and fear gripped his heart. The moment he landed, he fled back the way he had come without looking back. He had only one thought: return to the Lakeside Villa. With the help of the Anomalies Bureau's Necromancer, he might still have a sliver of hope.
"Heh, heh, heh. Not bad reflexes. A pity..."
Martinez gave a strange laugh and withdrew his bloody tentacles from the ground. Then he leapt
