Even though Green had expected it, the apocalyptic despair of the scene—and the bloody savagery of a city being slaughtered—still shook him.

Green ended Visual Synchronization and rubbed his temples. Witnessing something like that was hardly pleasant. Beside him, Lola had gone deathly pale. Her eyes were unfocused; through her War Spirits, she had clearly seen much the same thing. Her mind was far less resilient than Green's, though. She had cut off the vision early and taken time to steady herself, and by now she had mostly recovered.

"Are you all right?" Green asked, concerned that she was still so pale.

Lola shook her head with a bitter smile. "I'm fine. I just didn't expect it to be this brutal. I'd imagined something like this before, but..."

Green patted her shoulder without a word. He was in no position to offer comfort. He and Lola were both benefiting from this feast of slaughter. Her two War Spirits, Justin and Ivy, had Devoured countless Soul Remains and had recently risen to the Formal Rank. Green's elite Undead, meanwhile, had killed indiscriminately and brought the Graveyard more than eighteen thousand Psychic Energy. Most had come from the Mist World's Transcendent creatures, but human soldiers and Transcendents were among the dead as well.

On the battlefield, those human soldiers and Transcendents took one look at Green's Undead creatures and attacked without hesitation. Green could hardly order his Undead not to fight back.

"About time to leave." Green checked the Graveyard's Psychic Energy balance. It was nearing twenty thousand for the first time, and he was more than satisfied. He had gained enough; it was time to get out.

The Legendary fighters would be next. Sending the Mist World's Transcendent creatures against the city had only been the appetizer. The outcome would be
