Green and Cyrabelle sat in silence inside the carriage.
As they neared the military camp, their eyes narrowed almost simultaneously. They exchanged a glance and cried in unison, "Assassins!"
The next instant, they leaped up and smashed through the carriage roof.
At almost the same moment, a streak of light shot from a rooftop dozens of meters away. In the blink of an eye, it struck the carriage like a meteor.
The carriage exploded with a thunderous crash. The coachman and the two horses pulling it were blown to pieces.
"A Legendary powerhouse!" Green and Cyrabelle exclaimed together. That strike had carried the power of a Mid-Level Legendary.
At the same time, a blurred figure vanished from the rooftop. The attack had missed, and the attacker fled without hesitation.
"A skulking rat thinks they can show their face to me and still get away?" Cyrabelle was furious. The attacker was clearly from the Revolutionary Army's Assassination Unit. To try to kill her in broad daylight—they had shown her no respect whatsoever!
"Wait here for me." Burning with anger, Cyrabelle spoke to Green, then flew toward the rooftop.
But the assassin had already fled. Cyrabelle refused to give up and swiftly pursued the lingering trace of Psychic Energy.
Green did not stand there waiting. He first examined the shattered remains of the carriage, then went to the rooftop where the assassin had lain in ambush.
"Huh? No wonder they ran so quickly. They weren't a Legendary powerhouse after all." Green found fragments of crystal on the rooftop and roughly understood what had happened.
Just then, an explosion sounded two streets away. From the surge of Psychic Energy, Green knew it was Cyrabelle's attack.
But no evenly matched battle followed. There was one explosion, then silence.
