Green held several pages of reports, an odd smile on his face. "Covens really knows how to play every side! I can't tell whether he's too clever for his own good or just an idiot. He thought he could keep all the factions happy, treating everyone like fools, only to discover he was the real fool. He has no strength of his own, yet he's greedy enough to get himself killed."

The lieutenant from the Assassination Unit stood across the desk, expressionless as he awaited Green's orders.

Green set down the reports and thought for a moment. "We don't need to deal with him ourselves. Quietly leak the news to Marquis Carpson and Sebolutes, then see how they react. Be discreet. Don't expose us, and ideally, leave them wondering who they can trust."

"Yes, sir!" The lieutenant snapped to attention, saluted, and turned to leave.

Green settled back in his armchair and silently considered his next move.

From Green's perspective, it would be better if the decisive battle in the Void World did not come too soon.

Once it began, the Lorenzo Kingdom was almost certain to lose. Green would then lose the authority Cyrabelle had granted him over the Royal Capital's City Defense Army and the Anomalies Bureau. If the two sides remained deadlocked and the status quo held, however, he could put that authority to far better use.
