The Headless Angel roared. The huge face on his belly twisted into an even stranger, more hideous expression. His wings beat, and he dove at Suzune, fists drawn back at his waist, hurtling toward her headfirst.
Boom! They collided again. Suzune crossed her Dual Swords to block his attack, then drove her arms forward. Psychic Energy erupted, and her blades split his fists down the middle, cutting toward his elbows. Sparks flew as the Short Swords bit into his fists and arms, as though they were grinding through metal. A piercing screech rang out.
Suzune's eyes were completely bloodshot, and blood ran from her ears. Her pupils contracted, giving her a crazed look. Her ponytail had come loose, and her hair whipped in the force of her aura. With another fierce shout, she swept her blades apart. Sword energy burst from their edges, splitting both of the Headless Angel's arms down the middle and carving a huge X across his face.
The wound sprang open. Screaming, the Headless Angel flew backward, a little pale-gold liquid seeping from the cut. Green could not tell whether it was blood or whether the Headless Angel was an alchemical creation, and the liquid some substance essential to conducting Psychic Energy through his body.
Though Suzune had dealt him a grievous blow, her condition was worsening. Blue-purple lines appeared across her skin, along with cracks that made her look ready to split apart at any moment.
Suzune seemed unaware. She stared at the Headless Angel, her mind slowing to a halt. Only one thought remained: Kill the enemy in front of me.
