There were guards inside the prison as well. Several people stood ramrod-straight along both sides of the central passage. The moment they saw Charlos enter, they all immediately knelt before him.
"Saint Charlos!"
"You're here!" A man dressed noticeably differently from the others hurried over after paying his respects and said with a smile, "You haven't come in the past two years. Are you going to the same place as before?"
"I'll look around on my own," Charlos said with a wave of his hand.
The man who had rushed over to curry favor immediately forced a bitter smile, but he did not dare say anything. He respectfully replied, "Understood, Saint Charlos!"
Thus, Charlos led Ryan on a leisurely tour while Ryan continuously observed the conditions behind the prison bars on both sides.
He searched for any trace of Carter, but the more he looked, the more horrified Ryan became. It was not as if he had never witnessed darkness or tragedy before. After so many years at sea, he had fought in several wars and seen severed limbs, broken corpses, and blood flying across the battlefield.
