Background / History

Weevil travelled with Miss Bakkin, who presented herself as his mother and directed his actions through promises of food and demands for revenge. While searching for food near Autumn Island, he spotted Zephyr's Marine Training Ship and steered toward it at Bakkin's urging. 23

His crescent-shaped white mustache resembled Whitebeard's, leading to his “Whitebeard Jr.” moniker and widespread speculation that he was Whitebeard's son. Carl later questioned this identity after noticing several severe, unnatural scars on Weevil's body. 24 28

Appearance

Weevil was a towering, burly man with an abnormally muscular upper body and strikingly thin legs.

Personality

Weevil was simple-minded, childlike, and overwhelmingly dependent on Miss Bakkin. Hunger was a constant concern, and Bakkin could motivate or redirect him by promising food or claiming that she had been harmed. 23 25 26

He obeyed Bakkin's commands with little independent judgment, even discarding his weapon when she ordered him to do so at swordpoint. However, he became violently unstable when frustrated, disarmed, or faced with Bakkin's death. 27

Monstrous Physique

Weevil possessed extraordinary raw strength and durability, enough to contend with a rejuvenated and Holy Light-enhanced Zephyr.

• Recovered almost immediately after Zephyr sent him into the Training Ship's lookout tower with Dark Arm. 25
• His strength may have equaled or exceeded Zephyr's in raw physical power, though he lacked Zephyr's technique. 26
• His upper body could withstand Carl's Armament Haki-enhanced Rokuogan and Zephyr's Collapse Fist with limited effect. 28
• His thin legs were a critical weakness; once Carl cut his right patellar ligament and Zephyr broke both legs, his combat ability sharply declined. 28

Swordsmanship

Weevil fought using an oversized sword and relied primarily on immense force rather than refined technique.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Attack on the Training Ship

Weevil and Bakkin approached the returning Marine Training Ship in search of food. Identified as a 320-million-Beli pirate, he forced Zephyr to evacuate the recruits while Carl and Ain remained to support their instructor. 23 25

With Ain's age reversal and Carl's Holy Light strengthening him, Zephyr initially dominated the fight. Weevil's exceptional resilience, however, allowed him to recover from devastating attacks and turn the battle into a prolonged confrontation. 25 26

Bakkin's Death and Berserk Rampage

Carl used Bakkin as leverage to force Weevil to halt and discard his weapon. When Bakkin deliberately ordered him to resume fighting, Zephyr threw the weapon into the sea, causing Weevil to become berserk. Carl then killed Bakkin when she could no longer be used to control him. 27

Weevil's grief turned into indiscriminate rage, and he targeted Carl as Bakkin's killer. 27 28

Defeat and Death

Carl and Zephyr defeated Weevil by exploiting the disparity between his nearly invulnerable upper body and his fragile legs. Carl severed his right patellar ligament, after which Zephyr broke both legs and rendered him immobile. 28

After Weevil lost consciousness, Zephyr allowed Carl to execute him. His death prevented him from later becoming a Shichibukai and, in Carl's view, helped avert Zephyr's anticipated future tragedy. 28 29

Trivia

• Carl considered Weevil stronger in actual combat ability than the imprisoned Jack, despite Jack's bounty exceeding 400 million Beli. 32
• Carl suspected that Weevil might have been artificially created or reconstructed by the Marine Science Unit, but had no proof. 28
