As the instigator of it all, Aeneas was completely unaware.
He was still somewhat annoyed that he had let Vergo live.
"Forget it. Vergo probably won't want to run into me again, and a spy won't have time to come looking for trouble." Seeing that very little time remained on his trial card, Aeneas immediately dashed toward the swaying escort ship at the shattered coastal port.
"Urgh—"
Aeneas suddenly went limp halfway there. His vision blurred, and excruciating pain shot through every limb and bone in his body. Before he could even cry out, he caught sight of a man with a longsword at his waist walking out of the escort ship toward him.
Then Aeneas lost consciousness. The golden light around him shattered in a blur—the sound of the One-Punch Man Trial Card breaking apart. The five minutes had ended.
"Young master, you're alive..."
A mere five-minute gold-tier One-Punch Man Trial Card had already affected the entire world.
Unfortunately, it would not become Aeneas's fame. Only by becoming famous under the name "Aeneas" could he accumulate fame.
Who knew how long had passed after the mysterious swordmaster carried him aboard the escort ship before Aeneas gradually woke from his slumber.
Struggling to open his utterly exhausted eyes, Aeneas saw a lavish feast. Strength seemed to surge from nowhere through his body, and he immediately began eating. Only after taking a bite of a chicken leg did he notice a bearded middle-aged man sitting beside him.
Aeneas vaguely remembered seeing this man before losing consciousness. He seemed to be aboard the escort ship now. How long had he been unconscious? Where was he going? Who was this man?
When the man saw Aeneas awaken, the tension on his face slowly eased.
"Young master, you're finally awake!" The man's words left Aeneas thoroughly confused.
"Who are you? Why are you calling me young master?" Aeneas blurted out instinctively, but regretted it immediately afterward. He had suddenly remembered that he had none of the original owner's memories.
"Maybe this person knew the original owner? Did I just expose myself? Right! I can just pretend I have amnesia. Something that huge happened to an eight-year-old child—yes! That's right! I have amnesia!"
Aeneas's mind raced, but before he could make up any further excuses, the man sighed.
"That makes sense. I've been gone for three years, so it's normal that young master doesn't remember me. I just never expected the family to suffer such a calamity upon my return!" His face was full of sorrow and resentment. "Lord Antonidas must have been framed. As the steward, I wasn't by his side when he needed me most. Sigh..."
"A steward?"
Aeneas was also surprised. Could the man before him be the Dunhold Family's steward?
Large families all had stewards with different surnames—essentially butlers responsible for the family's many trivial affairs, helping the head of the family shoulder the burden.
Yet looking at this family steward's outfit, Aeneas would believe he was a pirate hunter who lived by the blade before he believed he managed tedious affairs.
"Young master, my name is Obi-Wan. Your father showed me kindness and granted me the Dunhold surname." Obi-Wan was deeply respectful. "Since your father has passed away, I can only repay my unreturned debt of gratitude to you, young master."
Obi-Wan crouched before Aeneas, who studied the somewhat unkempt middle-aged man.
"You don't need to call me young master. Just call me Aeni." Aeneas shook his head faintly. Aeni was a shortened form of his name, though only those close to him could call him that.
Although Aeneas had not completely lowered his guard around Obi-Wan yet, the man had come for him and could be considered to have saved his life. Otherwise, if Aeneas had been left alone in the shattered Goldfish Port, death would have been his only fate!
"Then..." Obi-Wan was delighted. "Lord Aeni!"
Aeneas curled his lip and stopped worrying about how Obi-Wan addressed him. Whatever.
"By the way, what happened at Goldfish Port yesterday?" Obi-Wan hesitated as he spoke. "I don't know whether I should ask, but what exactly happened to you?"
Only then did Aeneas realize that his entire body was wrapped in bandages, and the sensation in his limbs was extremely faint. It seemed to be a side effect of using the trial card earlier. After all, Aeneas was only an ordinary child. His physical condition simply could not endure such a drastic change, so there was naturally a cost.
Still, hearing Obi-Wan's question made Aeneas panic.
"Uh..." Aeneas brushed it off. "I... I don't know what happened to me either."
Seeing that Aeneas was still so young, Obi-Wan did not press him further. Instead, he sat to one side and mused, "Could it be a hidden personality?"
At the mention of a hidden personality, Aeneas suddenly recalled some cases that truly existed in the original story.
"There seemed to be a pirate named Cavendish in the original story, who later became one of the captains of the Straw Hat Grand Fleet." Obi-Wan's reminder brought it back to him. "Maybe I can use that as an excuse?"
"Maybe that's it. I can hear a voice deep in my heart." Aeneas spouted nonsense with a straight face. "Have you ever encountered someone with a second personality?"
Obi-Wan shook his head.
"I heard similar rumors in a kingdom called Rommel on the Grand Line. Some people guessed that a young man awakened a second personality while sleepwalking and carried out a massive slaughter, but I don't know whether it was true."
Aeneas grew a little excited.
Wasn't that Cavendish? He came from the Rommel Kingdom and was later forced to become a pirate because of the sins committed by his second personality.
"Hm?"
Aeneas's unusually slow reaction finally picked up on something.
"Did you just say yesterday?"
"How long was I unconscious?"
Aeneas asked.
"You were unconscious for a full eighteen hours. What happened at Goldfish Port took place yesterday," Obi-Wan answered truthfully.
"Huh?"
Aeneas's heart suddenly lurched. He remembered that his iron-plated cloth armor shirt had shattered, that he had thrown away his violin and musket, and that Obi-Wan had eventually brought him aboard this small escort ship.
"Do you have any more food here? I'm starving." Aeneas struggled to command his body to move. After great difficulty, he sat up and examined where he was—a room that looked very sturdy, simply furnished, with what seemed to be another door beside it. He did not know whether there was another room beyond it.
"Yes. The ingredients have all been prepared. There's even Sea King meat inside, which is very beneficial for recovering your strength!" Upon hearing Aeneas's words, Obi-Wan immediately stood. "Wait a few minutes. I'll prepare the food."
"This butler is actually a cook?" Sounds of frying and boiling came from the kitchen on the other side. Soon, the aroma filled the room, making Aeneas's nose twitch.
"It smells incredible!"
Aeneas immediately stood up, only to promptly fall flat on his face.
