As he entered the city encased in layers of steel, Swain immediately felt an indescribable oppression well up inside him, as though a thick, heavy haze had descended upon him. It was an eerie aura of death.
"What is this?" Swain slowly raised his head, his eyes filled with shock and confusion.
He stared at the towering, densely packed "coffins." Hundreds of meters above, they were filled with Genetic Humans.
The transparent coffin-like devices were full of green nutrient fluid, which gave off an eerie hue beneath the dim yellow light.
Behind those coffin devices, like a wall reaching the heavens, lay a maze of electrical equipment woven together like a net. Its lights flickered on and off like cryptic, dangerous codes.
"Looks like the people we killed earlier were the caretakers here."
Bullet's sharp gaze settled on a figure ahead, and he pointed at her.
A caretaker wearing the same clothes as the Genetic Humans from earlier was engrossed in her work, not yet fully aware of Swain and Bullet's arrival.
Pale-blue Ripples instantly appeared beneath Swain's feet, spreading outward like waves across water and surging toward the caretaker at a breathtaking speed.
Only then did the caretaker notice something strange beneath her feet. Seeing the change in color, she asked curiously, "What is this?"
Before her words had even faded, however, her body began floating out of control. She cried out in alarm and hurriedly looked behind her.
Two tall men were staring at her with blazing eyes.
The blue Ripples seemed alive as they completely enveloped her, then swiftly carried her toward Swain.
"Who are you?" the young woman asked, her large watery eyes wide open, her voice trembling with fear and confusion.
"We're pirates from outside. Where are you from, little sister?" Swain softened his tone
