You Are All the Same

Kuina had no time to think. She desperately swung her sword. "Tornado!"

The blade's flash stirred up a small vortex, blocking the black lightning thrusting toward her.

With a boom, the black lightning exploded, and everyone nearby was dragged and sent rolling a meter toward Deadwood.

"So you've mastered the secret of this sword technique too. There's no way to kill you directly." Deadwood grinned viciously. "For a little girl, that's truly remarkable. But like the bugs in a tree hole, you can't escape. All you can do is crawl toward my mouth bit by bit in fear."

"All of you are the same." Deadwood's birdlike face twisted hideously. "Woodpecker Cannon, two-thousandfold speed! Death Tree Hole!"

"Damn it!" Koza was covered in blood. Everyone else was trying to escape, but he alone was clutching a rock and crawling forward. "I'll use this rock to smash your bird head to pieces!"

"Koza, come here!" Kuina spotted a chance and kicked Koza in midair.

With a boom, black lightning passed between them and dragged Kuina back as she tried to use the recoil to escape sideways.

In the distance, a pirate happened to be behind Kuina. He was struck by the Woodpecker Cannon and let out a scream as his stomach was pierced straight through. His body was then dragged over in a trail of blood and impaled in Deadwood's mouth.

"Idiot!" Deadwood jerked his head and tossed his companion's corpse aside.

"Now!" Kuina rolled with all her strength and used that instant to escape to Deadwood's side. However, the air instantly trembled. It was as if an invisible wall had caught her, dragging her down once more toward the front of Deadwood.
