Background / History

Li Sanming awakens after apparently dying inside a Sea King and discovers that he has entered the One Piece world as Saint Miming, a young Celestial Dragon. His mother, Xia Luqianqian, immediately blames the Marines for his condition and orders them punished. Once conscious, Miming stops the executions, forgives the Marines, and personally frees Domino and Hina 1 2.

Although he possesses the privileges of a Celestial Dragon, Miming retains modern moral instincts and quickly becomes disturbed by Mary Geoise’s treatment of slaves. He secretly reduces the burden placed on his “walking stool,” protects her from abusive servants and doctors, and investigates the three sisters purchased alongside her 4 5. To survive among the Celestial Dragons, he outwardly imitates their arrogance while using their authority to limit the harm done to people around him.

Miming’s confrontation with Charlos, Shalria, and Charmak marks his first open challenge to the ruling class. He defeats Shalria and Charmak, forces Charlos to abandon his musket, and realizes that his status allows him to attack other Celestial Dragons without ordinary consequences 7 8.

He later discovers that the abused Amazon Lily slaves are Boa Hancock, Sandersonia, and Marigold. The realization that his own earlier actions helped place them in slavery causes his Conqueror’s Haki to awaken. From then on, he vows to become strong enough to protect the sisters, alter the future, and eventually liberate the slaves of Mary Geoise 10 11.

The Gorosei identify Miming as a descendant of both the Bird and Rosward royal bloodlines. After testing his Haki, they begin considering him a potential successor. He is theatrical, impulsive, and shamelessly confident. Miming enjoys dramatic declarations, provokes weaker nobles, and frequently uses humor or absurdity to control tense situations. His confidence is partly genuine and partly protected by Celestial Dragon privilege.

Miming is also highly strategic. He manipulates the Gorosei with fabricated prophecies, exploits Spandine’s ambition, and deliberately encourages the World Government to concentrate its forces around the Celestial Dragons so the slaves may have an opportunity to escape 14 40 43 44.
