They had not gone far when a low growl came from the darkness ahead.
"Roar!"
A Three-Headed Hound slowly emerged. Its six eyes glowed red, drool ran from its mouths, and every hair on its body stood on end. It looked vicious.
[Monster Demon: Three-Headed Hound] [Level: 4]
Molly's gaze sharpened, and she tightened her grip on the Broken Sword.
A level 4 Monster Demon was even stronger than the Tentacle Monster she had just fought.
The Three-Headed Hound attacked first. All three heads lunged at her at once, their sharp fangs glinting coldly.
Molly nimbly dodged and swung the Broken Sword at one of its heads.
Clang!
The blade struck the hound's skull with a metallic ring.
Its defenses were incredible!
Molly frowned and changed tactics.
Instead of aiming for its heads, she targeted its eyes and legs.
The Three-Headed Hound attacked ferociously, but it was not agile.
Molly used her nimble footwork to keep it occupied.
The healing effect of the Warrior's Breathing Technique meant she did not have to worry about running out of stamina.
She moved faster and faster, and her strikes grew more precise.
Before long, she had wounded three of the hound's legs, slowing it down.
Molly seized the opening, circled behind the hound, and drove the Broken Sword into it.
Squelch!
The blade sank into its body, bringing out a gush of foul-smelling blood.
"Yelp!"
After getting a taste of agony where the sun did not shine, the Three-Headed Hound let out a shrill howl. It collapsed, rolled its eyes back, twitched a few times, and went still.
Molly let out a breath, put away the Broken Sword, and checked the hound's corpse.
Unfortunately, it had dropped nothing.
She did not linger and continued on.
Before long, a thick iron door appeared ahead.
Rust covered the door, and a rusty lever stood beside it.
Molly walked over and pulled the lever.
Click—
The iron door slowly opened with an ear-piercing screech.
At the same time, a clattering sound came from nearby, as though something had been released.
Molly's heart sank, but she had no time to investigate.
Gripping the Broken Sword, she stepped through the iron door.
The sight before her made her pupils contract.
It was a vast breeding chamber.
Purplish-red slime covered the walls. More than a dozen enormous vats stood in the middle, each holding a bizarre Tentacle Monster suspended in liquid.
At the center of the chamber, five girls hung in midair, bound tightly by tentacles.
Their bodies were limp, their eyes unfocused, and their faces flushed. They looked as though they had been drugged.
One of them was Moyan!
Moyan's clothes were still neat, though, and there was some awareness in her eyes. She had not yet been harmed.
She also seemed unable to recognize Molly after her transformation.
Hope and pleading appeared in the beautiful girl's eyes as she silently watched Molly.
"Bastard!"
The sight of her younger sister bound in midair made Molly's eyes turn red. Fury surged up from deep within her.
She was about to rush over when two figures blocked her path.
They were men in black protective suits. Gas masks hid their faces, but their eyes gleamed with mockery.
[Black Defector A: Level 3] [Black Defector B: Level 4]
Behind them stood a fiend shrouded in black mist.
Tentacles covered the fiend's body. It had no facial features, only a gaping black mouth. The sight was deeply unsettling.
[Demon Person: Tentacle Fiend Boss] [Level: 10]
Molly's breath caught.
Level 10!
This was the strongest enemy she had encountered so far!
The two men in protective suits looked Molly up and down, greed filling their eyes.
"Well, well. That face, that body—she's a real prize! Even better than the schoolgirl we had last night!"
"Who'd have thought a magical girl would barge in? One with a sword, too. How interesting."
Their flippant voices dripped with malice.
The Tentacle Fiend let out a low growl, its voice cold with murderous intent:
"Another one here to die. Perfect. I'll turn you into a breeding bed for my tentacles too!"
As soon as it finished speaking, more than a dozen thick tentacles lashed toward Molly.
Molly's gaze sharpened. She activated the Warrior's Breathing Technique, nimbly dodged the attack, and swung the Broken Sword at the Tentacle Fiend's tentacles.
Clang!
The blade struck a tentacle with a metallic ring.
Those tentacles were even harder than the Three-Headed Hound's skull!
The Tentacle Fiend gave a mocking growl, and more tentacles whipped toward Molly.
Molly did not panic. She executed the four moves of Basic Swordsmanship with practiced mastery.
She moved faster and faster, her breathing growing steadier. Thanks to the Warrior's Breathing Technique and its healing effect, she did not have to worry about running out of stamina.
But the Tentacle Fiend's level was simply too high. Its attack and defense far exceeded anything she had imagined.
Before long, several wounds marked Molly's body. Red blood flowed from them, bringing sharp, piercing pain.
She gritted her teeth, endured the pain, and kept attacking.
She pushed the Warrior's Breathing Technique to its limit. The bleeding gradually stopped, and the pain eased considerably.
Molly and the fiend fought fiercely, neither gaining the upper hand.
Molly knew she could not keep this up.
She had to end the fight quickly!
Her eyes hardened, and she charged straight at the Tentacle Fiend.
"Huh?!"
The Tentacle Fiend clearly had not expected her to fight so recklessly. It froze for an instant.
Now!
Molly drew a deep breath. The method for using Holy Judgment flashed through her mind.
"Holy Judgment!"
She gave a low shout, and dazzling white light erupted from the Broken Sword.
An enormous blade of light slashed toward the Tentacle Fiend's body.
Boom!
The blade of light struck the Tentacle Fiend between the legs with a thunderous crash.
A brilliant white flash lit up the entire breeding chamber.
"Aaaaaah!"
Struck by a devastating blow to the groin, the Tentacle Fiend let out a shrill howl. The blade of light split its body in two, and it crumbled into a heap of black ash.
A purplish-black fragment the size of an egg fell from the ashes.
The fragment turned into white light and shot into the Broken Sword.
The Broken Sword hummed louder than it ever had before.
Molly let out a breath and slumped to the floor, panting heavily.
Just then, a black shadow floated out of the heap of ash.
The shadow slowly took the shape of the Tentacle Fiend. Its legs turned inward, its tentacles covered its crotch, and its eyes burned with hatred.
"You'll pay for this! I won't let you get away with it... Never!"
After spitting out those words, the shadow turned into black smoke and vanished into the darkness.
Molly's pupils contracted.
It was not dead?
No, that was not right... What she had just killed must have been a duplicate. Its real body was still alive!
